○ The African Youth Population accounts
for nearly 2/3 of the African populace.
○ African students consistently perform well
below their international peers.
○ African teacher absentees rates range
from 8% to 35% across the continent.
○ African firms consistently reporting a
widening "skills gap” that exists on the part
of African youth entering the labor
market.
○ In 2050, the African population will
account for nearly 1/4 of the world's
population.
4. ~Envision’s Purpose:
○ Envision: 2063 notes the widening skills gap that exists between skills
attained by young Africans, and the skills needed for the expansion of
the African development effort, Envision 2063 identifies five issues
plaguing the African education structure and suggests innovative ways in
which they can be alleviated in order to spur long term economic growth
and societal stability.
