• A $20 million electric vehicle hub is in works in eastern
Sacramento.
• The Sacramento Municipal Utility District and startup GiddyUp EV
Inc. announced the start of work on one of the largest electric
vehicle charging hubs in the state. The high-speed charging hub is
planned on 55 underutilized parking spots at SacRT’s Power Inn
light rail station and park and ride.
• “With an innovative mindset focused on solutions to ease range
anxiety for Californians making the switch to electric vehicles, this
large-scale, first-in-the-nation public-private partnership is
breaking ground in record time,” said California State
Treasurer Fiona Ma, in a news release. Ma led a work group that
identified SacRT's transit stations as good potential locations for
charging stations.
• The first phase of the project will construct 10 high-speed
charging stations that can accommodate up to 20 vehicles at a
time, as well as solar power-generating canopies, wireless
internet and future battery storage. It's expected to open in
October.
• At full build-out, the $20 million project would include up to 100
chargers.

The high-speed charging hub is planned on 55 underutilized parking spots at SacRT’s Power Inn light rail station and park and ride. • “With an innovative mindset focused on solutions to ease range anxiety for Californians making the switch to electric vehicles, this large-scale, first-in-the-nation public-private partnership is breaking ground in record time,” said California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, in a news release.
