Advised by Dr. Jeremy Heider
This project is analyzing the resistance of emergency response professionals to mental health aid and the
environmental factors that promote or undermine these efforts,such as working in a highly masculine
environment.

Successfully defended this project before a committee and thus earned Graduation with Distinction in the
Department of the Major.
Fall 2015: The Personality of a Therapist
Supervised by Dr. Scott Brandhorst
Completed as an honors contract research project for PY441: Introduction to Clinical Psychology. Analyzed
existing research on ideal traits for a psychotherapist and gave a brief presentation to the Psychology Club
including the Big Five Inventory for students to compare aspects of their personalities to the ideal traits.
Fall 2015 – Spring 2016: Supervising Research Assistants
Supervised two Research Assistants each semester that aided in the planning and data collection phases for the
field research projects completed during the academic year.
Summer 2014: Research Assistant – Southern Illinois University – Carbondale
Assisted Eiei Hlaing, a doctoral candidate in the Brain and Cognitive Science Program, in data collection and
entry for a study analyzing the effects of sleep apnea and treatment on participants’ cognitive functioning.

Clinical and Professional Experiences
Spring 2016: Learning Assistance Programs – Learning Assistant
Additional tutoring offered to individual students for a variety of psychology courses, especially research statistics
due to the great demand for the course.
Fall 2015 – Spring 2016: Learning Assistance Programs – Supplemental Instructor for Research Statistics
Observing in regular course sessions and facilitating optional two hour-long sessions each week in which the
material is taught to students in a more informal manner.
June 2015 – December 2015: Missouri Veterans Home of Cape Girardeau – Recreational Therapy Aide
Part-time job working with residents in dementia wing; facilitating activities, one-on-one conversations, assisting
nursing staff with duties, etc. Ended due to the part-time position no longer being funded by the state.

Fall 2014: Internship in Psychology
Approximately 90 hours served at the Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS) planning, observing, and
facilitating activities during a weekly group of individuals with early-stage dementia.
Approximately 30 hours served at Saint Francis Medical Center with neuropsychologist Dr. Steven Jordan;
attended trauma rounds meetings, observed pre-assessment interviews with patients, intelligence and
neuropsychological testing, and visitations with in-patients in crisis.
Spring 2014: Learning Assistance Programs – Learning Assistant
Tutored students in psychological research statistics, introductory psychology, and developmental psychology.
February 2013 – May 2015: Coldwell Banker Professional Associates – Office Administrator
Part-time job completing basic secretarialduties such as filing, answering telephone and managing email,
organization, inputting listing information data onto websites,assisting realestate agents,etc.
