Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is one of the premier institutions in Delhi University,
involved in providing education in the fields of Science, Commerce, and Arts. Over a period of
45 years, the college has distinguished itself by providing an intellectually stimulating academic
culture, to promote independence of thought and vision. The college aims to turn raw talent into
valuable 'Human Capital'. The college provides facilities like fully computerized bar coded
library, state of the art computer labs, lush green lawns, canteen, seminar rooms, bank and
photocopy shop. Also, provisions are made for Cricket, Hockey, Football, Volleyball,
Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Athletics, Cross-country,
Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Carom and Chess to keep sports an integral part of student's life.

The students of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, although actively involved in different
societies, never put their academics in jeopardy. Some facts related to student performances are:
• The average percentage of the 350 students registered with the Placement Cell is 70%.
• 50+ students have achieved an aggregate percentage of over 75% in the previous 2 years.
• Over 100 students are pursuing Chartered Accountancy.
• 10 students are also pursuing actuarial sciences.

Young Entrepreneurs
Society, or YES, was
formed in January '13 by
the students of the college,
after research into the
varied business ideas that
students have. It aims at
refining business ideas
into business plans, and
get students in contact
with industry experts to
implement the said ideas.
This society leads with the
tagline,” Harnessing
Entrepreneurial Talent and developing leadership skills of the youth.” The society operates
through different departments such as External Relations, Marketing, Expansion, Creative, and
Event Management- all to increase the credibility of a business idea and make it a sound
business plan.

The objective of this society is to provide a
common platform for all Finance-
Enthusiasts to learn through information
sharing and also keep the enthusiasm of
Finance-Lovers alive throughout the year
by organizing different events related to
the subject. It's an initiative to facilitate
knowledge sharing on matters of finance
and provide a deeper insight into the
financial sector to the students of Shaheed
Bhagat Singh College and eventually and
hopefully contribute to the same at the
University Level.

This society aims at providing students exposure
to different career options and knowledge related
to them. It takes up a number of counseling and
workshop sessions to help solve doubts. It is an
initiative to aid the students in order to further
their future prospects and achieve their full

students a wide range of options of different
creative forms to harness their creative and
artistic skills and display their talents.

It aims at arousing social consciousness
among the youth with an overall objective
of personality development of the students
through community service. It has also
organizes blood donation camps apart from
various other activities. Most students are
part of more than one society. NSS at SBSC
believe in the ideology "not me, but you'.

Harithkaram (Eco Club) aims at creating
environmental awareness and promote
green and sustainable activities in and
around the college campus. It
channelizes the young and budding
environmentalists through their creative
ideas towards a greener world.

It aims at developing human skills,
confidence and leadership qualities in the
female students. Various activities in the
forms of lectures, debates and group
discussions are organized to achieve these
objectives. The Women Development Cell
is going to launch the Female Literacy
Drive throughout the college that will
create awareness in the college regarding
female illiteracy.

The Commerce Association of our college
is actively involved in organizing different
commerce related fests featuring
competitions such as B-Plan competitions,
and Mock-Stocks. The annual fest
“Uddayam” has gained recognition all over
Delhi University, and attracts students from
both North and South Campus annually.
The Commerce association also holds the
Annual Conference, which was presided
over by Smt. Sheila Dikshit last year.

The students of Economics in the
College organize the Economics
Festival, ECONOTIZE, annually.
Econotize has gained widespread
popularity throughout the University.
Every year it sees addition of a new
and innovative competition. Last year,
regular MUNs were held in the college
in collaboration with the Commerce
Association. Also, Beg- Borrow-Deal,
a competition testing the powers of
persuasion possessed by the students
was introduced.

The Placement cell of the college has a remarkable record. It is in a continuous process of
developing alliances with potential recruiters and inviting them to the college to provide them
with quality human capital. The College is equipping the students to learn about entrepreneurial
and managerial skills to operate in a challenging business environment. During the year 2013-
14, The Placement Cell organized pre-placement presentations by recruiting organizations
which was followed by the actual recruitment process. A team of talented individuals led by
Siddharth Jerath and Vipul Gupta has also brought in internship programs for 2nd
Year students.
