Conducted literature review and wrote annotated bibliography focused on the impacts of coastal
desalination plants on marine ecosystems worldwide.
Gained literature research techniques including searching forward, backward and using Boolean
search terms to ensure a through literature review.
Worked in support of the larger TNC California Coastal programs effort to scope the overall
impacts of desalination on the environment.

Developed, from scratch, a self-sustaining, community run, volunteer stewardship program
focused on protecting and maintaining the condition of the Ormond Beach wetlands and dune
habitat in Oxnard California.
Communicated with key stake-holders, TNC employees, organizations with similar programs and
visitors to understand the needs of the Ormond Beach area.
Created a program manual, volunteer training materials and monitoring materials.

Assisted in the review and redevelopment of the PhilanthroTravel program, which offers unique
opportunities for Project C.U.R.E. supporters to connect first-hand with third world medical
communities.
Updated and edited the PhilantroTravel and Clinics webpage.

Sorted, Identified and Cataloged Texas freshwater and coastal marine fish species.

Territoriality and Visitation Rates of Hummingbirds (TCU)

Conducted an observational study of hummingbird foraging behavior with the goal of determining
potential relationships between resource availability, instances of visitation and instances of
territorial behavior.
Presented a poster at the 2013 TCU school of Science and Engineering Student Research
Symposium.
Invertebrate Sampling Methods & Determining Prairie Health Using Invertebrates (TCU)

Collaborated with Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) botanist to determine the best
invertebrate sampling methods for prairie invertebrates.
Compared invertebrate samples collected in a natural prairie habitat to invertebrates in a
constructed urban prairie.
Tagging Study of Coastal Shark Species (Summer School)

Collected data and tagged specimens for an ongoing species census of shark and ray
populations in Hilo Bay.
