RULES

ENGLISH COURSE GROUND RULES

1. I will arrive on time. Class
starts at 7:50 a.m. and finishes at
10:20 p.m.


2. If I arrive late, I will try to not
interrupt and I will sit quietly.
Later, I shall show an excuse to
the teacher. If I arrive late class
three times, I will fail the course.


“I’m sorry. I’m late. I
apologise”


3. If I don’t attend a session, I will
update myself on the relevant
issues I missed and I will present
the teacher a task that has to do
with the class topic. I I miss three
classes, I will fail the course.


4. I will participate with
enthusiasm to work in groups or
perform didactic activities.


5. I will activate the English
languages as much as I can
(reading, listening and interacting
with challenging input) The library
and the ICT are great resources!


6. I will try to avoid the use of Spanish
to the maximum. I will express myself
using the English language as much as I
can (classroom language is very useful
for that purpose). Spanish will only be
used as a last resource.


7. I will be a good listener: not
interrupting when somebody is
speaking.


8. If I need to talk about a
relevant issue related to the
course, I will raise my hand.


9. We all contribute to create a
good atmosphere. I will respect
myself and my classmates.


10. I will encourage participation
to increase motivation.


11. I will encourage a positive
attitude towards collaborative
learning: responsibility, patience,
tolerance and creativity will
always with me.


12. I will take risks and I will be
tolerant to frustration. I won’t be
punished by giving my money
away for every mistake I make.


13. I will contribute to keep the
classroom clean and organised.
Not generating extra noise.


14. I won’t eat during the class
period.


15. I’ll always have my book and
notebook updated.


16. I shall submit my tasks
handwritten and not in
photocopies. A few exceptions
apply for large worksheets that the
teacher permits to submit in
photocopies.

17. If I have a mobile, I will turn it off or
put it in vibration mode. I can call or be
contacted after the class. If I know
somebody needs to contact me for an
emergency, I will let the teacher know
about it before the class starts. I can only
use the mobile in class when I need to run
an application that facilitates my English
learning


18. The blog will contain songs with
lyrics that I can practise at home. I
will practise the songs that the
teacher can present in class and I
will also suggest what song we can
sing in class.

19. The blog will contain movie parts
with subtitles that I can practise at
home. I will watch some movie parts
that the teacher can present in class
and I will also suggest what movie we
can watch in class.


20. I (Marcela) will submit the
grades and give feedback to the
participants on time.


21. I (Marcela) will let the
students know, in advance, if
there is any modification in our
class routine.


22. I will download the
assignments from the blog and I
can contact the teacher at the
mail: mlemus@utp.edu.co.

each class, in the middle, or at
the end.
