S
o you hate going to the gym and the thought of learning
a sport to stay fit gives you a headache. How about doing
something fun that’ll take you outdoors, away from your
desk and laptop? Like bunny hops and bear crawls? We’re
talking about wild fitness here, which is all about practising primal
human movements such as running, crawling, climbing, jumping,
lifting, swimming and fighting, engaging as much with the natural
world as possible and not using equipment, weights and gadgets.
Suman Agarwal, celebrity nutritionist and fitness consultant, says:
“Outdoor activities like walking, jogging and swimming connect us
with nature, calm us and help relieve stress.”
It’s absolutely fun and all you need to do is find a public park near
your home or office.

Here are some ideas to
get you started
HOP Use your
building stairs and
bunny hop up and down
(crouching down as low
as you can, and then
hopping up to the next
step). Five minutes.
RUN In the park or, if
possible, at the beach, run
barefoot for five minutes.
CATCH Do this
exercise with a partner.
One of you hold a stick
and drop it without
warning; the other has to
catch it before it hits the
ground. Five minutes.
CRAWL With your
hands and feet on the
ground, bear crawl for
two minutes.
JUMP Find something
to jump over – a log or a
low bench – and land in a
squat after each jump. Do
this for five minutes.LIFT Lift a stone or a log
that’s of appropriate weight
for your strength. Lift by
squatting, pick it up and put
it down 20 times. Do this for
five minutes.
