4. Here are the elements or components
of weather that determine the weather
condition at any given time :
• Temperature – the degree of hotness
or coldness of the air around us.
It is measured by thermometer either
in the Celsius Scale (°C) or Fahrenheit
scale (°F).

5. • Wind Speed – The speed
of the wind may be fast or
slow. An instrument used
for measuring wind speed
is called an anemometer.

6. • Wind Direction – The four
letters W,E,N,S represent the
four direction: West, East, North
and South. A wind vane shows
wind direction. The arrowhead of
the wind vane tells where the
wind comes from.

7. • Clouds – the amount
of clouds in the sky
affects the weather.

11. Humidity – is the amount of water
vapor in the air. It is measured by a
hygrometer. Relative humidity is a
comparison between how
much water vapor the air is holding
and how much it can hold.

12. • Precipitation – water that
falls to earth in any form like
rain, snow, sleet or hail. The
amount of rain is measured
by a rain gauge.

13. • Air Pressure – Air pushes on all
surfaces of the Earth. This push or force
is called air pressure. Warm air puts
less pressure on the Earth than cool air
does. Low pressure areas often bring
bad weather. High pressure areas bring
fair weather. Air pressure is measured
by a barometer.

blowing from the North. It is a North
wind. If it blows from the East, it is an
