Use Blue to Straddle the Gender Divide
• The ‘isolation effect’ is a psychological factor which states that people have a superior recall when
things stand out on their own
• Colour is something people recognise and process from an early age
• In adverts, bright colours are used to target men and softer colours are used for women
• The colours purple, pink and turquoise have proven to attract female consumers
• Men are more likely to pay attention to red as it is the colour of power and excitement
• Blue is the best colour to use if a product/message is aimed at a gender-neutral crowd as it is the
colour of clear skies and competence
• 57% of men and 35% of women preferred the colour blue so
it’s considered as the favoured colour of both sexes

both online and mobile marketing that aim to take targeted advertising to a whole new level

have access to materials that speak most to them as individuals.

building trust, inspiring purchase, and creating online community
• The result is a riveting level of engagement and authenticity

with them
• Users not in New York City can still submit their

7. Snap Chat
Snapchat is exceptionally easy to set up and use. By creating a unique Snapchat, account
users can add friends by connecting to their phone’s address book, Linking to Facebook, or
by entering specific Snapchat usernames. . Users can see a list of sent and received
messages and can see if messages have being viewed. To send a message, users snap a
picture with the in-app camera and type a descriptive short text message, set the length of
time the photo will display, select specific contact, and send. Users can also add pictures to
their personal ‘Story’, which allows everyone in their contact, list to view the picture.
Furthermore, users who are using the app at the same time can initiate a private
teleconference with each other.
8. New users create a login, then can import contacts and sign up to follow other users.
Users can easily take a photo within the app or import one from their camera roll,
then quickly enhance the photo by using lighting and contrast effects. Users can also
add borders and filters to add blur effects, and change the brightness of a photo.
Users can add a caption and share the photo on Instagram and Twitter, Facebook,
Flickr, Tumblr or by email. Users can view, like, and comment on photos or videos.
This is not an app for managing your photos -- you cannot create an album or even
share multiple photos at once.
9. Pinterest
Pinterest is a semi-social site helps users collect images for inspiration. Users can
post images with inspirational quotes and other upbeat notes that other users
can ‘pin’ and will show on their homepage, they can also post comments on
photos other users have picked. Users pull images from other websites, product
shots (and references to specific products) are very common. Users can post
brief descriptions, which may include relevant facts. Users categorize their
Pinterest boards by topic such as fitness or food and drink. That makes it easy to
search for other users with similar tastes. However, Pinterest feels less

comment, which doesn't make the experience very social.
