Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Civil serants are very funny, espacially in the Office for example. You know the cliche: since they they don’t do any thing, how can they ever do any thing wrong?
  2. Governments today have a lot of challenges to face: cultural shifts in society, demographic evolutions, articulate citizens,… The economic crisis forces governments to optimze their internal organization. Less is more –which also counts for the number of civil servants. You know the story about dinosaurs. They didn’t die because of a meteorite strike, but because of a dust cload suffocating all plants. No oxigen and sunlight was available and the dinosaurs starved to death.
  3. In our story dnosaurs are not governments themselves or the grey men in grey suits with newly cut grey hair. Dinosaurs have nothing to do with age or with one person in perticular. Dinosaurs are our outdated habits we keep on doing because we always did. They are not adapted to the challenges we are facing. Unfortunately dinosaurs are not yet dead. For example if your government is now working out a plan to introduce an ipad by 2017, it might be even the most appropiate thing to use at that time.
  4. So..it is time to change…
  5. What is keeping us away from that change? Why is it so hard for us to change? Why do our governments keep on acting like a dinosaur? We will try to explain what is actually reholding us for change. We call it the barriers against change. It is all about four parameters: seeing, saying, doing and thinking. In the middle you see feeling. In government we are trying to be very rational, but scientific resaerch shows that only 1% of our desicions are right if we only use our rational mind. We also need to follow our guts and feeling. You probably have seen it happening: people not recognizing what they see, not saying what they think, not seeing what they do and not doing what they say. It are all barrieres against change preventing ourselves for doing what we should do.
  6. Does anybody know these four dead men? …
  7. Maybe they look more familiar in this comic. It are the daltons. In this comic book “The stagecoach” the four daltons want to rob a stagecoach full of money. The daltons are not strong enough to move a rock in order to stop the stagecoach on the road. The smallest and smartes dalton comes up with the idea of using a big branch and a small rock to be used as a leverage. The four daltons jump at the branch and the rock starts moving. This story shows us that sometimes a combination of small rocks can make something move. Even within a government it is very important to connect all the small rocks to each other in order to make the big rock move into the right direction.
  8. We call those small rocks Dinobusters. They do and think in one movement. Thinking and doing is not seperated anymore. They also have the power to see and say in a respectful way things that are happening around them. The network has never been more imporant then today. Dinobusters use their network to strenghten and spread their message.
  9. That is why we are not alone. You see in front of you two dinobusters, but atually we are just the representatives of a larger movement. It is for us very immortant that ou messages don’t stop by writing two books. We give lectures, we share our knowlegde and use the knowlegde of others to make sure we will be able to make our dream come true. And you are more then ever convinced that a new government is not something will make happen by writing books. We’ll have to make sure we open our message to you all and make it happen together!
