I’m Interested! What now?
Start Something
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the
most enjoyable and fulfilling things you’ll ever
do. You have the opportunity to help shape
a child’s future for the better by empowering
them to achieve. And the best part...it’s a lot of
fun! It’s not about finding more time in your life,
it’s about inviting a child into the life you are
already living!
Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books.
Watch a football game, or, just give some advice
and inspiration.Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are
you’ll enjoy them even more with your Little—
and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.
Your commitment to volunteer with a child can
start something amazing. So why not apply to
be a Big today. There are kids out there ready to
get started. Are you?
Volunteering is fun...BIG time.
Play a Role...
Volunteer.
By committing to be a Big Brother or Big Sister,
the following steps will be taken towards
impacting the life of a child.
What the Volunteer does:
What Big Brothers Big Sisters staff will do:
Once matched, we will provide you with:
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Our program is based on a one-to-one relationship
between an adult and child where new experiences
help the Little Brother or Little Sister become more
self-confident, do better in school and enjoy time
with a new friend. With a minimum commitment of
one year, these children are exposed to opportunities
and experiences that once seemed out of reach.
COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM
BigsandLittlesspendtimetogetherhavingfunenjoying
everyday activities once a week (at least twice a month).
Whether you play catch, wash your car or go to a movie,
these every day moments impact children and help
transform lives.
SCHOOL/SITE-BASED PROGRAM
This program gives an opportunity for Bigs to be
matched with a Little in a local school or after-school
program. One hour per week, three to four times a
month, the Big engages in various activities with the
Little, such as eating lunch, helping with homework,
throwing a ball or just spending an hour sharing stories.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Our volunteers and children come from all walks of life.
Ask about our specialized programs that may be more
meaningful for you or your family:
For more information, call 888.887.BIGS or visit www.bbbstx.org.
What if every child fulfilled their
potential? How amazing would that
be? Byvolunteeringtoday,youcanstart
moreLittlesonthepathtobigthings.
BeingaBigBrotherorBigSisterdoesn’tmeanbeingaperfect
role model, it means being yourself with a new friend.
You have a big opportunity. By volunteering to become a
mentor, you can impact a child’s life today and transform his
potential for tomorrow.
Big Brothers Big Sisters’professionals are available to provide
you with training, activity ideas, guidance and support for
the one-to-one match as the relationship grows.
We are ready to help you get started and to support you
through this journey.
You are matched with a local child based upon similar
interests and expressed preferences. You will then be able
to spend time together each week (at least twice a month)
doing things you both enjoy. Depending on which type
of match you are in, you can eat together, attend sporting
events, play games, help with homework or just hang out.
These are all the little things that make a big difference in
the life of a child.
