It preserved the basic legal rights of all free men
in England.
The Magna Carta recognized a law greater than
the will of the king.
3. Glorious Revolution
It took place at the British Isles.
William of Orange took over the James II during
the Glorious Revolution.
The Bill of Rights.
4. The English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights was written in 1689.
It largely settled the political and religious that
had convulsed Scotland, England and Ireland in
the 17th Century. The Bill was prepared with
the aim of ensuring certain rights to which
citizens and permanent residents would be
entitled to.
5. The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a philosophical movement of
the eighteenth century which stressed human
reasoning over blind faith. It then spread to have
eventual influence over all sections of the world.
It took place around 1650-1700 in the Western
World.
It promoted intellectual interchange and opposed
intolerance and abuses in Church and state.

He was famous for his articulation of the
theory of separation of powers.

He was from Wrington, England.
His lifespan was from August 29, 1632 to
October 28, 1704. (Aged 72)
Natural Rights are considered to be self-evident
and universal. The widely held view is that
nature endows every human.
8. Jean Jacques Rousseau
He was from Geneva, Switzerland.
His lifespan was from June 28, 1712 to July 2, 1778.

The social contract is an intellectual device intended to
explain the appropriate relationship between individuals
and their governments. Social contract arguments assert
that individuals unite into political societies by a process
of mutual consent.
9. Thomas Jefferson
He was from Shadwell, Virginia.
He is most famous for writing the Declaration of
Independence.
He switched the words from “property” to
“pursuit of happiness” because he wanted to
broaden the idea and make it more meaningful.
