1. Dr Santosh Kumar Kamrani (Dr S K Kamrani) has been a development practitioner, academic
policy maker and educational management professional with more than 20 years’ experience of
specific focus on humanitarian assistance, community mobilization, peace development,
development communication, adult literacy, child labor, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),
women development and education sector. He has experience in project proposal preparations
and implementation, as well as project management, and in undertaking rigorous research
studies in rural along with urban hinterland.
Dr Santosh has worked with several national and international organizations including UNESCO –
a specialized agency of United Nations on Education, Science and Culture for planning activities
relating to Education, EFA, Right to Education, Inclusive Education, Education for Sustainable
Development (ESD), Polio Eradication Campaign, HIV and AIDS Prevention, and Health
Education, Peace and Human Rights, conflict resolution, Food Security & Nutrition etc;
monitoring implementation of activities and contracts; preparing, revising, or updating work
plans and detailed budgets; reviewing technical documents and reports and preparing their
summaries, conceiving and planning new project proposals for donor funding.
Dr Kamrani also has been Director Programs of an international organization working on Sufism,
interfaith harmony and peace. He was instrumental in sensitization and capacity building of
hundreds of public school teachers in all four provinces in Pakistan on various themes including
peace, human rights, interfaith and intra-faith harmony etc.
Dr Santosh has also served as humanitarian activist responsible for bringing together
humanitarian actors to ensure coherent response to emergencies in order to mobilize and
coordinate effective and principle humanitarian action in partnership with national and
international actors as to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies.
Dr Kamrani has been responsible for planning, and execution of a university level degree
program through distance learning education on Sufism and peace under for a public university
in Pakistan with flexibility of various entry points (for example intermediate, graduation and
masters) for students on their choice of subjects by offering a range of degrees from Certificate
Course to PhD including, Diploma, Associate Degree, BS, MS and MPhill.
Dr Santosh has media & communication related experience including research and scripting for
Radio Pakistan, practical work with various newspapers along with teaching experience of
research, psychology and development communication to the students of public and private
universities in Pakistan.
Dr Kamrani has also prepared/compiled a research based booklet on ‘Free and Compulsory
Primary Education as a Right’; booklets on HIV/AIDS; several readers on world heritage sites of
Pakistan; readers on Health & Hygiene, Skill development and Social Awareness, and various
teachers training manuals on peace, human rights, conflict resolution, disaster risk reduction,
health education, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) etc.
Dr Santosh has visited USA to observe their decentralized system of education and diversified
cultural aspect and to research best educational practices in respect of Teachers’ Training and
Curriculum Development. He has also received training on Multimedia Production for Education
from Japan; and, training on strengthening the focus on young people from key populations who
2. are more likely to be exposed to HIV in a regional workshop for Asia-Pacific and Eastern Europe
and Central Asia from Bangkok Thailand.
