2. DEFINITION
⦿ Artificial intelligence is the intelligence of
machines and the branch of the
computer science which aims to create.

3. HISTORY
⦿ “Machines will be capable, within 20
years, of doing any work a man can do.”
Two years later MIT researcher Marvin
minsky predicited, “ Within a
generation….the problem of creating
‘artficial intelligence’ will substantially be
solved”.
(AI innovator HERBERT SIMON.1965)

4. MOTIVATION
⦿ Why Artificial Intelligence?
⦿ Computers are fundamentally well suited to
performing mechanical computations,using
fixed programmed rules.
⦿ Artificial machines perform simple task
efficiently and reliably, which humans are ill
- suited to.
⦿ For complex problems,unlike
humans,computers have trouble
understanding specific situations,and
adapting to new situations.

5. ⦿ AI aims to improve machine
behaviour in tackling such complex
task.
⦿ Humans have an interesting
approach to problem solving,high
level deliberative reasoning and
pattern recognition.
⦿ AI research is allowing us to
understand our intelligent behaviour.
⦿ AI can help us to understandnthis
process by recreating it, then
potentially enabling us to enhance it
beyond our current capabilities.

6. ADVANTAGE OF AI
⦿ It can help us to improve our way of life.
⦿ Machines will be able to do jobs that
require detailed instructions.
⦿ Mental altertness and decision making
capabilities.
⦿ Use of robots for heavy construction,
military benefits, personal assistance at
private homes.
⦿ There will be less injuries and stress to
human beings.

7. ⦿ Many of our health problems now have
possible solutions with the use of AI.
⦿ Scientist have been using AI to test
theories about how our brain works.
⦿ AI opens up new and exciting avenues
for entertainment possibilities.
⦿ AI also make interactive electronic
games more fun by making the
computer control character more
realistic and human like.

8. LIMITATIONS
⦿ To date, all the traits of human intelligence
have not been captured and applied
together to produce an intelligent artificial
creature.
⦿ Currently, AI rather seems to focus on
specific applications,which do not
necessarily require the full extent of AI
capabilities.
⦿ There is little doubt that artificial machines
will be capable of intelligent thought in the
near future.
