• Groundwater or spring water is typically
sheltered from contamination but surface
water is open to many contaminants.
• Filtration and/or disinfection is required to
remove the contaminants.
• Chlorine disinfection is logistically and socially
difficult

• Matazano has essentially no capacity in any of
the categories.

• Develop a formal Memorandum of
Understanding, laying out goals, steps,
responsibilities, and limitations
• Analyze potential improvements and develop
an implementation plan
• Coordinate monthly with Nuevo Dia, who will
serve as the liaison to Matazano leaders
• Team to travel to Matazano twice a year for
follow up and potential project construction
