The Moto X Play is Motorola’s new device – offering up more power and a better display than the Moto G, but a price that is lighter on the old purse strings than the Moto X Style.
At only £279 for 16GB version, or £319 for the 32GB, there is certainly a lot to love. It continues with Motorola’s stripped back approach to Android, avoiding ugly skins for a stock version of Android Lollipop with tweaks that actually improve it.

What’s this all about?
3. Selling points
But the main selling points are the huge battery that is claimed to last through
two days, and a 21 megapixel camera. Having these features on a mid-rage
handset could really make the phone stand out against its competitors.
If you have ever laid eyes on any of Motorola’s devices then you will
instantaneously recognise the Moto X Play. The front is simple and clean with a
near edge-to-edge 5.5inch display, flanked by a speaker on the bottom and a
speakerphone on the top, plus a camera. The Moto X Play keeps it simple.
Motorola has kitted the X Play out with a 1080p LCD panel with 403 pixels per
inch. The display is sharp and gets brighter when you need it to, and dark when
you don’t. The display renders colours accurately and doesn’t have a pink
undertone when you turn the brightness down.
4. Camera & battery specs
The handset’s battery is something to be curious about. The non-
removable battery cell is bigger than almost every similar battery on
the market with 3,630 MAH. This combined with its less-demanding
display meant that the phone’s battery life could last up to two days.
Along with the battery, Motorola has high ambitions for the camera.
The 21 megapixel rear camera is a massive step up from the usual 13
megapixels that are common in the mid-range devices, and the F2.0
aperture should improve quality of low light images. Located under the
camera is colour correlated temperature for capturing softer skin tones
without causing blow outs.
5. Software & display
Instead of covering Android with a skin, the Moto X Play runs Lollipop
5.1.1 with just a few adjustments and extra apps. The best addition is
Moto Display – an updated lock screen that lights up with incoming
messages and lets your scroll through multiple notifications without
unlocking the phone.
With an amazing display, detailed camera and a battery that can last
you all day, the Moto X Play is an impressive competitor for the major
smartphones.
6. How to opt out of Google location tracking: Android
1. Open Google Settings from your device’s apps menu
2. Choose “Account History”
3. Then select “Google Location History”
4. Then finally “Location Reporting”
5. Switch the slider to “OFF”
Now that you have opted out of Location Reporting, you now need to
opt out of Location History:
1. As previously done, select “Google Settings”, “Google Location
History”
2. You will then need to select “Location History”
3. You will need to switch the slider to “OFF”
7. So what now?
