• FortRotterdamis a 17th-century Dutch fortin Makassar,
Indonesia. Itwas builtto counter Dutch encroachments and
was ceded to the Dutch under the Treaty of Bongaya. Ithad
six bastions and was surrounded by a seven meter high
rampartand two meter deep moat. It was the Dutch regional
military and governmentalheadquarters until the 1930s and
was extensively restored in the 1970s. Itis now a cultural and
educational centre, a venue for music and dance events, and
a touristdestination.
