School trips are an incredible opportunity for young minds
that are constantly seeking information and experiences as
well as acquiring knowledge. In our experience, when these
young minds go beyond the classroom, they cement and
build upon curricular subjects and lessons. Outdoor learning
helps the students develop a more holistic understanding
of themselves, their skills, their curriculum and how all this
ultimately relates to the development of the world.
Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur, is committed
to create a vital link between learning in the classroom, the
students’ inner lives, and the world at large. The pages that
follow are representative of the aim of our institution, which
is to take teaching beyond the walls of the classroom into the
freedom of outward exploration and creativity.
We chose this particular programme for Uttarakhand for its
unique approach to understand the chief historical and cultural
aspects besides its special focus on wildlife conservation. We
visited several places including Naini Lake, and Jim Corbett
National Park. Helping us to organize and implement this
journey was a company that specializes in student education
travel.
EdTerra Edventures brings over ten years of its experience
to help over 40,000 students learn from the diversity of our
planet. We are happy to state the success of this collaboration
stemmed from a deep alignment of EdTerra Edventures vision
with our own. We seek to make our students global citizens
who actively understand and contribute to the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals. Further, from EdTerra’s
travel curriculum and to develop 21st Century Skills amongst
millennial students, we opted for Student Media Projects
especially EdTerra’s Travel Journalists Programme.
This magazine — Students Travel Chronicle (Jim Corbett –
Nainital) is a product of our students’ concerted teamwork to
write and collect their journey experiences and impressions
comprehensively. We hope you will enjoy reading this
chronicle and have valuable points to take away from students’
experiences.
Finally, we at Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur
would like to acknowledge our teachers. The success of this
journey is only possible with their responsible and informed
efforts. We also thank our parents, who remain our most
fervent partners and collaborators for the education of all the
students who study and work together.

The atmosphere of the railway station, from where we started our journey was warm and exciting. Everyone was excited
to leave for the adventurous trip. Our first destination was Delhi Railway Station, where we boarded our buses for
Uttarakhand. In Uttrakhand, the central attraction of our visit was Jim Corbett National Park. The park is named after a
fearless man, Edward James Corbett, who was a hunter, writer and conservationist. We checked into our resort, took rest
and headed towards the famous Garjiya temple, situated on the banks of Kosi river. The view was very beautiful. Having
hot Maggie on a cold day felt like a cherry on the cake. We ended our day with an energetic DJ party.
Our next day started at 4:30 a.m. The weather was very cold. We had to report at 5:00 a.m. to leave for the adventurous
jungle safari. The jungle safari was exciting as we saw many different animals, which we had never seen before. These
animals included elephants, sambar deer, spotted deer, and birds like kingfisher. We even saw an elephant, who was
patrolling near one of the cottages. We saw him bathing and drinking water from his trunk. The journey was exciting,
informative and adventurous. The only thing about which we were sad about was that we could not spot a tiger.

Edward James Corbett has lent his come to the country’s oldest and most famous national park, Jim Corbett National
Park. Born in Nainital in 1875, Jim Corbett lived in India until independence after that he left for Kenya and died in 1955.
He is India’s most celebrated hunter-naturalist.
It is also said that Jim Corbett earned fame after he tracked down and killed a number of man-eating tigers. He was
regularly called upon, primarily in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, in regions where many man-eating tigers
and leopards preyed. He is said to have killed over a dozen of them. He used to live with her sister Maggi. He was a
generous man because he helped the people who were facing problems because of the tigers. He later turned into a
conservationist.
The house which is a museum now is the place where Jim Corbett used to live with his family. The museum displays
include hunted wild animals and glass enclosures having heads of tigers and fossils.

HISTORY OF JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
07
We discovered that the area of the Corbett
National Park came under the ambitious
‘Project Tiger’ in 1971
We were completely enthralled by the
alluring calm and tranquillity along the
banks of the Kosi River
We learnt that the eastern rim of Corbett
National Park is entirely fed by the Kosi River
We learnt that Jim Corbett National Park is
famous for having the most tigers of any
Indian national park.

We believe that every child would be having the curiosity to see animals like tigers, lions, elephants, wolves and foxes.
We can see them easily in a zoo but the worst thing there is that they are trapped inside the cage. They cannot move as
per their wish or breathe fresh air. National parks are areas where animals are preserved in their natural habitat and can
live and eat freely. The air in the national parks is really fresh because it contains a lot of trees. Most people love to see
tigers but it is a rare sight. We went to Jim Corbett National Park. We left for the national park at 5:45 a.m. In the national
park, we saw spotted deer and footprints of wild animals like elephants, bears, tigers and elephants. We saw elephants
digging holes, a stream of Kosi river, poop of animals and many other things. We eagerly wanted to spot a tiger but we
were unable to do so because our guide told us that it was not the season when tigers come out in open areas. Finally,
it was a nice experience with friends.

National parks and biosphere reserves play a major role in protecting the environment and atmosphere. According to
our understanding and learning, we have listed a few points on the importance of national parks and biosphere reserves:
• Biosphere reserves help in reducing global warming
• National parks help in preserving endangered species like rhinosaurous and lions.
• These places also play a major role in boosting our state’s economy as many people visit these places for enjoyment
with their families.
• They offer a great platform for wildlife photography.
• These places are safe for animals.
• These are very relaxing and quiet places.
The authorities in these national parks provide the animals with the optimum amount of food and supplies essential
for their survival. They are home to several endemic species. They provide animals with a safe area to survive and
reproduce. The main objective of places like national parks is the conservation of biodiversity.

We chose this particular programme for Uttarakhand for its unique approach to understand the chief historical and cultural aspects besides its special focus on wildlife conservation. We visited several places including Naini Lake, and Jim Corbett National Park. Helping us to organize and implement this journey was a company that specializes in student education travel. EdTerra Edventures brings over ten years of its experience to help over 40,000 students learn from the diversity of our planet. We are happy to state the success of this collaboration stemmed from a deep alignment of EdTerra Edventures vision with our own. We seek to make our students global citizens who actively understand and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Further, from EdTerra’s travel curriculum and to develop 21st Century Skills amongst millennial students, we opted for Student Media Projects especially EdTerra’s Travel Journalists Programme. This magazine — Students Travel Chronicle (Jim Corbett – Nainital) is a product of our students’ concerted teamwork to write and collect their journey experiences and impressions comprehensively. We hope you will enjoy reading this chronicle and have valuable points to take away from students’ experiences. Finally, we at Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur would like to acknowledge our teachers. The success of this journey is only possible with their responsible and informed efforts. Team Members Bhavisha, Bhoomi, Kavya, Nupur, Pari, Riddhi, Samnvi, Sara, Siddhi, Simran, Tanushree & Turvee The atmosphere of the railway station, from where we started our journey was warm and exciting. Everyone was excited to leave for the adventurous trip. Our first destination was Delhi Railway Station, where we boarded our buses for Uttarakhand. In Uttrakhand, the central attraction of our visit was Jim Corbett National Park. The park is named after a fearless man, Edward James Corbett, who was a hunter, writer and conservationist. We checked into our resort, took rest and headed towards the famous Garjiya temple, situated on the banks of Kosi river. The view was very beautiful. Having hot Maggie on a cold day felt like a cherry on the cake. We ended our day with an energetic DJ party. Our next day started at 4:30 a.m. The weather was very cold. We had to report at 5:00 a.m. to leave for the adventurous jungle safari. The jungle safari was exciting as we saw many different animals, which we had never seen before. These animals included elephants, sambar deer, spotted deer, and birds like kingfisher. We even saw an elephant, who was patrolling near one of the cottages. We saw him bathing and drinking water from his trunk. The journey was exciting, informative and adventurous. The only thing about which we were sad about was that we could not spot a tiger. OUR JOURNEY 01.

  • 8. Team Members Chanchal, Mahi Sejpal, Mahi Sharma, Manat, Pavitra, Ridhi, Sanskriti & Suhani Edward James Corbett has lent his come to the country’s oldest and most famous national park, Jim Corbett National Park. Born in Nainital in 1875, Jim Corbett lived in India until independence after that he left for Kenya and died in 1955. He is India’s most celebrated hunter-naturalist. It is also said that Jim Corbett earned fame after he tracked down and killed a number of man-eating tigers. He was regularly called upon, primarily in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, in regions where many man-eating tigers and leopards preyed. He is said to have killed over a dozen of them. He used to live with her sister Maggi. He was a generous man because he helped the people who were facing problems because of the tigers. He later turned into a conservationist. The house which is a museum now is the place where Jim Corbett used to live with his family. The museum displays include hunted wild animals and glass enclosures having heads of tigers and fossils. 02. HISTORY OF JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

  • 10. Team Members Anshul, Arhant, Aryan, Atharva, Jayesh, Manav, Navjot, Nikunj, Nishad, Smyan, Soham & Vrishin We believe that every child would be having the curiosity to see animals like tigers, lions, elephants, wolves and foxes. We can see them easily in a zoo but the worst thing there is that they are trapped inside the cage. They cannot move as per their wish or breathe fresh air. National parks are areas where animals are preserved in their natural habitat and can live and eat freely. The air in the national parks is really fresh because it contains a lot of trees. Most people love to see tigers but it is a rare sight. We went to Jim Corbett National Park. We left for the national park at 5:45 a.m. In the national park, we saw spotted deer and footprints of wild animals like elephants, bears, tigers and elephants. We saw elephants digging holes, a stream of Kosi river, poop of animals and many other things. We eagerly wanted to spot a tiger but we were unable to do so because our guide told us that it was not the season when tigers come out in open areas. Finally, it was a nice experience with friends. • 12. Team Members Aditya, Aditya, Ganesh, Harshita, Himanshu, Prince, Ronak, Shaad, Sidhant, Sohamm, Tarun, Vansh & Vivek National parks and biosphere reserves play a major role in protecting the environment and atmosphere. According to our understanding and learning, we have listed a few points on the importance of national parks and biosphere reserves: • Biosphere reserves help in reducing global warming • National parks help in preserving endangered species like rhinosaurous and lions. • These places also play a major role in boosting our state’s economy as many people visit these places for enjoyment with their families. • They offer a great platform for wildlife photography. • These places are safe for animals. • These are very relaxing and quiet places. The authorities in these national parks provide the animals with the optimum amount of food and supplies essential for their survival. They are home to several endemic species. They provide animals with a safe area to survive and reproduce. The main objective of places like national parks is the conservation of biodiversity. 04.
