3. The Cornerstone of our Faith
Now I make known to you, brethren, the
gospel which I preached to you, which
also you received, in which also you
stand, by which also you are saved, if you
hold fast the word which I preached to
you, unless you believed in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:1–2 3
5. The Gospel and the Corinthians
There were those factions in Corinth who by their
actions, attitudes, and theology showed they
were never believers! They rejected Paul’s gospel
and Apostolic authority and merged the gospel
into Roman culture, whereby the culture became
dominant! Cultural Christianity is always weak
and sometimes not Christian!

6. The facts
For I delivered to you as of first
importance what I also received, that
Christ died for our sins according to the
Scriptures, and that He was buried, and
that He was raised on the third day

This OT annual sacrificial ritual is discussed in Lev.
23:10ff. The first fruits in the OT were ripened sheaves
of the barley harvest waved before the Lord in the
Temple the day after the High Holy Sabbath of
Passover Week, which would be Resurrection Sunday.
They were given to show God’s ownership of the
entire crop. This is an OT type for the promise of the
resurrection of all of Christ’s followers!

37. I don’t understand the resurrection
But someone will say, “How
are the dead raised? And with

You fool! That which you sow does not come to
life unless it dies; and that which you sow, you do
not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain,
perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God
gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of
the seeds a body of its own.

40. What kind of body?
All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is
one flesh of men, and another flesh of
beasts, and another flesh of birds, and
another of fish. There are also heavenly

the heavenly is one, and the glory of the

So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam,
BECAME A LIVING SOUL.” The last Adam
became a life-giving spirit. However, the
spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the

and the dead will be raised imperishable,
and we will be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4:15–18…For this we say to you by the

the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have

heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and
with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise
first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught
up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in
the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18
Therefore comfort one another with these words.

56. Why the Rapture

mortal will have put on immortality, then will
come about the saying that is written,
