4. At a young age, Fordin enjoyed working at her family Repair shop were she
would help in odd jobs. In 1996, she became a certified mechanic after
graduating from New York State’s Automotive Technical Training Program in
1998. At the same year, she took ownership of her father’s shop (because of
health failure) which is presently known as the Great Bear Auto Repair. In
2008, Fordin was faced with major challenges like the great recession which
caused a drop in her business as well as sleepless nights. Being faced with this
challenges, she never gave up but rather came up with the idea on
empowering women on proper car maintenance and safe driving techniques
which resulted to the Women Auto Know. She has generated thousands of
dollars from her line of specialization (from 200,000 in 2008 to 800,000 in
2015) and she has used some of this fund, to donate to single mothers.
