3. Criteria for lake rejuvenation projects
• Lake should be small.
• Lake should be situated in semi urban areas.
• It should have less litigation & encroachments.
• There shall not be entry of sewage.
• The rejuvenation budget should be small
approx 50Lakhs
• It should be possible to complete in 6 months
• The ownership of the lake will be with ULB’s
• There will be a board of the sponsorers

5. Action taken with BWSSB & Suggestion given

invested in the projects taken by BWSSB for
rejuvenation of lakes.
• Insisted to discharge sewage water into lake after
treatment.
• A proposal for pumping of treated water to
Bangalore University campus.
• Initiated action on diversion of waste water from
open drain to manhole, which ultimately joins to
nearest treatment system, then to lakes.

6. Construction of silt trap in stages will reduce the flow of sewage in the
drain gradually.
Action not yet taken to utilise the full capacity of V.Valley STP(only 30%
being used).
Entire BBMP area has to be covered by the BWSSB and any direct
discharge from the erstwhile CMC area into any lakes has to be
prevented.
BWSSB has to enter into an agreement with horticulture
Department, Forest Department, BDA for programmes such as stone
pitching, beautification by gardening, making walkway etc.
Sewage in its septic condition to the tune of about 12 to 15 MLD
(Peenya and other area) is bypassed from Madavara lake and the same
further joins T.G.Halli Catchment. The same can be uploaded into
Nagasandra STP which is operating at 30% its capacity.
The sewage treatment/diversion at V.Valley region is below par.
