Seasoned development professional with broad experience in corporate and foundation relations,
including grants management, prospect research, and strategic planning, as well as knowledge of
cause marketing/sponsorship, with additional experience in membership, annual fund and major

special events.
EXPERIENCE:
Consultant American Liver Foundation -- 2014 to the present
Reporting to the COO and Senior Vice President, I write a bi-weekly internal newsletter.
Previously, I helped to revitalize a moribund development department, serving as grantwriter while
recruiting a full-time Development Director, then consulting on strategic direction, prospect
research and grant management.
Consultant Turlough McConnell Communications - 2012 to the present
Reporting to the President and CEO, and working with a team of web designers, curators, and
other professionals, I facilitate all phases of exhibitions and projects, from fundraising and
sponsorship to text panel writing and collections management.

responsibilities for corporate grant proposals and reports, as well as primary management
of the Corporate Council. I managed cause-marketing audits, designed program protocols,
submitted proposals and reports for sponsorships and cause programs, and contributed
Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy and Cause-Marketing pages for a re-designed
website.

Senior Director, Corporate Relations Children’s Health Fund - 2004 to 2009
Reporting to the Sr. Vice President, Development, I headed a three-person team that raised
corporate support for pediatric primary care aboard mobile units and in community and
school-based clinics, primarily from within the pharmaceutical and financial services
sectors.
 Generated $3,000,000 plus in corporate contributions annually. Million-dollar funders
represented the pharmaceutical, insurance, financial services and manufacturing
sectors.
 Established five new multi-year funding relationships at $300,000 to $1,000,000.
 Expanded and administered the Corporate Council for America’s Children, composed of
companies donating $50,000 to $1,000,000 in philanthropic or cause-marketing
support. Meeting annually in Washington, DC, this advocacy and networking group
also held periodic teleconferences and sponsored the Honoree’s Reception at CHF’s
gala dinner each year.
 Promoted from Manager to Director in 2005 and to Senior Director in 2008
Development Manager, Foundation Relations South Street Seaport Museum - 2001 to 2003
Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, and working as part of a team of four managers and
two support staff, I generated $1,000,000 plus in foundation, corporate and government grants and
gifts.
 Established ten new funding relationships, including major independent and corporate
foundations.
 Identified, cultivated and solicited foundation funders, including the preparation of proposals
and budgets, interim and final program reports, and management of site visits and cultivation
events consisting of sailing aboard the museum’s tall ships.
 Prepared all post-9/11 relief applications and proposals, including government, foundation and
corporate support.
 Restructured grant management/stewardship to better utilize Raiser’s Edge and ensure timely
submission of reports, program budgets, and renewal applications.
Membership Manager China Institute in America - 1999 to 2000

income of New York City’s only educational and arts organization devoted exclusively to Chinese
culture.
 Increased membership giving by 100% and broadened the membership base by launching two
new membership groups, one at $10-25,000 level. The Friends of the Gallery is an exclusive
opportunity for Chinese arts enthusiasts to participate in intimate dinners with art experts, visit
the studios of prominent artists, and enjoy travel in the company of noted authorities on
3

of Chinese culture and society.
