WHEN DID THEY START DEVELOPMENT ?

The film entered development as
Neighborhood Watch in early 2008, with Levy
developing the project over three years based
on an idea by 20th Century Fox executive John
Fox.
PRODUCTION !

Principal photography began in October 2011 in Georgia, with filming occurring in Atlanta, including
Inman Park, and several areas in Cobb County including the Oakleigh, Echo Mill, and Amberton
subdivisions in the city of Powder Springs.

.One of the Marietta scenes filmed involved a young boy on a skateboard being abducted by aliens.
Scenes were also lensed in the Brookhaven community.

On October 25, 2011, a casting call was made for extras to fill the football stadium during two nights
of filming between November 2-3 at Campbell High School in Smyrna, Georgia.

In late November, 2011, the site of a former BJ's Wholesale Club in Norcross, Georgia was converted
in appearance to that of a Costco for shooting.

On January 23, 2012, Hill announced that filming had officially concluded. Multiple scene takes were
made, allowing the cast to follow the script as written and then also inject their own
                                            improvisations.
HOW WAS IT MARKETED
The Neighborhood Watch marketing campaign began on February
29, 2012, with the release of a teaser poster, trailer and the
unveiling of the film's website, jointhewatch.com.

On March 27, 2012, it was reported that 20th Century Fox had the
poster and trailer removed from Florida theaters in response to
the increasing controversy concerning the February shooting
death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida by neighborhood
    watch captain George Zimmerman.

The trailer featured Jonah Hill, imitating a gun with his hand to pretend
to shoot at teenagers, while the poster featured a bullet-ridden,
    alien-themed neighborhood watch sign.

Fox maintained that the July 27, 2012, release date would remain.

The new alien-focused campaign began on May 4, 2012, with the
release of a new trailer, coinciding with Fox changing the film's
name to The Watch, to further distance the film from the Martin
    case.
The Trailer
SPEACIAL EFFECTS : Special effects company Legacy Effects
provided creature designs and effects for the aliens.

The trailer begins with the music of Dr Dre – Still DRE and the
shot is a close up the camera is following a cars tyres
moving up a suburban road in slow motion.

It then still in slow motion flashes to children playing ands
staring at the car. It then does a focus on the grill of the
car still moving then a long shot of a postman dropping
the mail as he stares at the car.

The next shot is of the wing mirror and children bike riding
behind the travelling car, The shot then changes to a
man looking shocked at the car as he accidently mows
                      his flowers not his lawn.

There is then a close up of the front of the car again but only
for a few seconds , there is then a comical part when a
mother is covering her childs eyes as if the people in the
                         car are criminals.

There is a fast movement of the top of the car to a medium
shot of the window at the front of the car where you can
see all the characters looking out of there windows as if
                   they are looking for someone.

It then still in slow motions goes to each character doing
different things , for example Jonah Hill pretends to shot
                                 a gun.
TRAILER
The trailer is marketing the film as promoting as a comedy as straight away a rap song comes on
unlike to a horror film when sinister music comes on. You can only get so much from the
trailer as it pans a car which is obviously the motif for the film. There are shots of each
character, if the audience like to watch comedies then they will want to watch this as there
are four different shots of four of the most popular comedy actors in the film. There is no
voice over in the trailer just shots of people living in on suburban street. The audience only
get the idea that the film is about four people patroling the area and being a neighbourhood
watch as of the sign on the car. We then see them covered in eggs so we see the people do
not like what they are doing ! We see them bring a boy to the police station and say stupid
                                              things to him.
HERES THE TRAILER !!! :D
