does composting take
out of landfills?
•Food Scraps (your left over food) can be composted: fruits,
vegetables, and anything in between. plates, forks, wrappers,
potato chip bags cannot be composted.
•There is not a specific number that is assigned to the question;
however, composting does reduce the amount of garbage that
ends up in dumping sites.
•When we do not compost, all of our food ends up in the
dumpster where methane gas is produced when food
decomposes there. Methane is a poisonous gas when released.
