1. My Personal Statement – first draft
Since beingintroducedtomediainschool,ithasalwaysbeenthe subjectIhave beenmost
passionate about.Ithinkthe feelingof beingable tocreate somethingyou’re proudof,like a
documentaryora website,isafeelingeveryone shouldexperience.Fromtelevisionshowstoblog
posts,mediaissomethingwe are all affectedby,whichiswhatmakesme feel involved,makingme
wantto furthermy skillsandbranchout intothe industryinmyfuture.Spendingmycollege years
studyingthe subject,Ihave onlygrownmore andmore interestedandkeentolearnmore.
Currently,Iam undecidedwhichcareerpathI will take,butIhope that uponcompletingUniversityI
will be inemploymentfocusedonmedia,justasinspiredasIcurrentlyam.
In takingMediastudiesatcollege,ithashelpedme grow intoamore confidentandresilientperson.
My IT skillshave grownwithme,inusingsoftware Ihadn’tusedbeforeattendingcollege,now
creatingshortdocumentariesandwebsitessuitedtospecificaudiences,whichwouldhelpme
greatlywhenattendingthe course asIalreadyhave the knowledge behindme.Workingonprojects
such as shortfilms,myteamworkandcommunicationskillscontinue todevelop,all while dealing
withdecisionmakingandattimestakingthe leadindecidingwhichroute isbesttotake and would
benefiteveryoneincluded,thisbeingrelevanttothe course since teamworkisaskill we all carry
throughoutourlifetime andshouldalwaysensurethateveryoneinvolvedfeelsincluded. Ithinkin
mediawhenworkingoncreatingsomething,the researchbefore creatingthe productismost
essential asitallowsme toincrease myknowledge onthe subject,whichwouldhelpduringthe
course as it wouldallowme tosee whichproductsalreadyexistandtheirhistory. While thisstands,
I am able to workindependentlywhichIhave shownthroughoutmyeducationwhencreatingthings
like myownblog,alwaysshowingenthusiasmandmotivationformywork.
Workinginretail,Ihave facedmany scenario’swhere the skillsIhave acquiredduringmycollege
yearshave helpedme indifferentways.Ispendalarge sumof mytime workingonthe checkout
tills,therefore myshiftisall abouthelpingcustomersandensuringtheyhada goodexperience
shoppingwithus,and if not,what I can do to help – Thisgreatlyhelpingme gainconfidence with
each day.Whena problemoccurs,my decisionmakingskillshave helpedme inseveralsituations,as
well asmy independentworkingskills,asthere are timeswhenI’mable toresolve asituationonmy
own,but sometimesIdoneedto make the decisiontogeta supervisorinvolvedif Iam unable todo
so myself.Followingthis,spendingtime onthe shopfloormeansmovingstockandmakingsure
everythingiswhere itshouldbe,immediatelybeinghelpedbymypresentationandorganisation
skills,ensuringeverythingispresentedtoahighstandardfor our customers.
My greatestpassionsbeingoldmusicandfilms,Iknow thatbeinga part of thiscourse wouldonly
make my interestin the industrygrowincreasinglyovertime,helpingme towardsmyfuture career
path.
