Everybody wants to be a certified professional in the field they have. Thus, passing the board exams is essential, and thanks to review centers for guiding us to achieve this. But enrolling in a data-driven review center that can help you in areas you really need is smarter.
Team Shiftees use the data from students' review exams performance and created a web application to predict the probability of a student in passing the board exams. Through this application, it can help the review center provide early interventions to students who needed them most.

The Pearls and Perils of For-Profit Education (Deborah Riemer)ODLAA
Education is on a fast-paced trajectory towards change, but how do institutions do it amidst an environment steeped in tradition? For-profit institutions, in particular, are bearing the brunt of an establishment fearful of change. One of the outcries frequently heard is that for-profits sacrifice academic quality for enrollment numbers. Maintaining quality, while servicing a growing population of students, is not problematic if appropriate systems are put into place that are focused on student learning, steeped in best practices, and designed for scalability. The vision for this design is inclusive of the whole, integrating a systems approach to quality that is incorporated across all levels of the academic unit ˆ the student level, faculty level, and administrator level ˆ and incorporates learning outcomes assessment within a flexible model of program design.

The Achievement Gap in Online Courses through a Learning Analytics LensJohn Whitmer, Ed.D.
Presentation at San Diego State University on April 12, 2013.
Educational researchers have found that students from under-represented minority families and other disadvantaged demographic backgrounds have lower achievement in online (or hybrid) courses compared to face-to-face course sections (Slate, Manuel, & Brinson Jr, 2002; Xu & Jaggars, 2013). However, these studies assume that "online course" is a homogeneous entity, and that student participation is uniform. The content and activity of the course is an opaque "black box", which leads to conclusions that are speculative at best and quite possibly further marginalize the very populations they intend to advocate for.
The emerging field of Learning Analytics promises to break open this black box understand how students use online course materials and the relationship between this use and student achievement. In this presentation, we will explore the countours of Learning Analytics, look at current applications of analytics, and discuss research applying a Learning Analytics research method to students from at-risk backgrounds. The findings of this research challenge stereotypes of these students as technologically unsophisticated and identify concrete learning activities that can support their success.

The challenges of Assessment and Feedback: findings from an HEA project – Denise Whitelock (IET)
This project was undertaken by IET and colleagues from the University of Southampton and is just producing its final report. The project's aim was to produce a synthesis of evidence based research which throws light on the progress made in the practice of Assessment and Feedback in H.E. This presentation will highlight findings with respect to authentic assessment, e-portfolios, peer assessment, feedback for language learning and Advice for Action.
Interest in integrated STEM curricula has grown recently, but there is little research on its impact. This presentation examines differences in performance on an engineering design assessment of 8th grade students who did or did not participate in a series of engineering focused modules during middle school as part of their regular curriculum. The students’ in the school that included the curriculum scored higher on three of four dimensions measured on the scoring rubric: Depth of thinking, expertise needed to create a solution, and the use and interpretation of data. These outcomes were independent of the student’s fifth grade achievement level. The implications of these results for the integrated STEM curriculum student and for assessing engineering design process are discussed.

Looking to the past to understand the future
To understand fully the future direction of the oil and gas sector here in WA, it is important to consider and recognise the recent history and current challenges being experienced. This history and current challenges formed the first section of the presentation highlighting the scale of expansion of the industry here over the past decade, where we have moved from around 20mtpa LNG to a anticipated output level of some 50mtpa in WA alone, which, when combined with the additional capacity being constructed in QLD and NT will make Australia the world’s largest exporter of LNG by the end of this decade.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
