2. Pastor’s Pen
I would like to share something that is not my own—but certainly reflects my concern as our Nation and Leaders will be praying
on May 2nd
, for the United States of America on the National Day of Prayer. It ought to be a focus for all of us, not just one day of
the year, but each and every day! Please add this to your prayer concerns and include some of all of these items in your own dai-
ly prayers.
Blessings and peace,
Rev. Les Peine
I.ASK GOD TO BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord—the people He has chosen to be His own possession!” Psalm 33:12
1. Ask God to forgive us as a nation for our sinful choices and ways, covering us with His Son’s blood, and extending blessing and
favor upon the United States of America because of His great mercy.
2. Ask God to bless America spiritually in a new and fresh way and move us to return to the Lord our God.
3. Ask God to bless America by raising up godly leaders in all areas of our nation: locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally.
4. Ask God to bless America economically so that all people in our nation will be blessed and so we can be a blessing to the entire
world.
5. Ask God to bless America by securing our nation from all evil and harm from within our nation and from outside our nation.
II. PRAY FOR AMERICANS TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER, BEGINNING AMONG CHRIST FOLLOWERS
“Love one another. Just as I have loved you…” John 13:34
1. The present anger, division, and broken relationships in America are calling us to pray for and take all necessary actions to re-
member God’s love for us so we will love one another.
2. God is the only One who can bring unity, harmony, and oneness in America; therefore, we look only to Him in prayer, asking for
this love to prevail.
3. Call upon God to create a major Love One Another movement across America and empower us to make every effort to live in
unity with one another, call for unity, and continually forward unity in America.
III. PRAY FOR THE CENTERS OF INFLUENCE IN AMERICA
“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all
those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2
1. Pray for the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the United States government to value one another, respect one an-
other, and work together for the good of our nation.
2. Pray for America’s military, its leaders, and all personnel to be protected by God, and for the courage to depend upon God.
3. Pray for the members of our media in America to be respectful of all people, bearing truth, and inspiring our nation with stories
about loving one another.
4. Pray for America’s businesses to have leaders of integrity, be creators of economic blessing, and givers to the community.
5. Pray for America’s centers of education to create a culture of respect and love for one another.
6. Pray for the churches of America to model and be examples of love for another, inspiring a Love One Another movement to oc-
cur.
7. Pray for the families in America to return to the biblical model, creating families that practice forgiveness and love.

We are fast approaching the end
of the year, and so the end of the
Sunday School year also. Thank you
to our children’s teachers, Linda Lockwood
and Debbie Scheetz. Our last children and
youth Sunday School will be May 19.
BIBLE BUDDIES ended this year with our East-
er Eggstravaganza on Palm Sunday, April 14.
What a great event and time of fellowship with
families from the community, the Day Care, as
well from our church family! There were 44
children plus parents and grandparents and
our crew of Epworth workers in attendance.
The evening began with dinner for all, fol-
lowed by a tornado warning! We hadn’t really
planned for that part of it, but after waiting
out the warning safely together, the kids en-
joyed an indoor egg hunt, games, crafts, a sen-
sory area and a bounce house. Lots of laughter
and fun! To close the evening, the group gath-
ered for a video by Hillsong Kids called “What
Easter Means.” Thank you to everyone who
helped and to our Day Care for providing the
sensory area. Special thanks to Linda Lock-
wood, Melanie Gold, Debbie Scheetz and Nate
Lockwood.
Youth in grades 6-12: we’d like to plan some
game nights for the summer. Please let me
know what night of the week you can come!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS SUNDAY, JULY
21 THROUGH THURSDAY, JULY 25! Our
theme this year is “Incredible Faith.” We will
be learning about the faith of Noah, David,
Daniel and Nehemiah. VBS is for kids age 4-
6th grade, plus youth helpers. Registration
forms are available now. Let’s fill the building
with kids!
Workers are needed for VBS for kitchen,
crafts, registration table, games, decorations,
building props and many miscellaneous tasks.
If you would like to help, or have questions
about children or youth programs, please see
Linda or me.
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me…”

A group of teens from United Methodist
Lakeside Reach-Out will be with us on Tues-

will be working during the day on the 16th
and 17th at Canton Calvary Mission. If you
are able to provide a place for a couple
teens to showers on Tuesday, July
16, at 4:45 p.m., or help to provide
dinner, please let Marie know. The
Reach-Out groups always appreciate
your hospitality!
