┃What is “Chlorine Dioxide(ClO2)”┃
Chlorine dioxide has been described as the “ideal” biocide. Recent innovations in safe and efficient
delivery mechanisms have allowed chlorine dioxide to be applied to a wide variety of applications. It’s
now included in many drinking water hygiene programs around the globe. Complete testing has
confirmed the safety of chlorine dioxide. This includes extensive studies by the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Chlorine dioxide is very effective in killing pathogens such as fungi, bacteria and viruses. It’s a very
selective
oxidant and reacts mainly with organic substances.
Chlorine Dioxide is approved as an environmentally friendly and stable disinfectant from each
country’s government which is classified as a most safe food additives (level A-1) from WHO.

- Chlorine dioxide decomposed to form chlorite and chlorate which disappears immediately, Therefore, chlorine
dioxide is a non-toxic disinfectant
▶ According to animal studies, chlorine dioxide is not harmful under the concentration of 100ppm
(IPCS, International on Chemical Safety, 2002)
·Chlorite : No tumor evolution after 85 week treatment of 300~600ppm concentration(Rat)
·Chlorate : No tumor or cancer evolution at dogs and rats
- As chlorine dioxide does not react with ammonia, it does not produce the toxic chloramine.
