3. QueensburyTheatre’s Evolution
Country Playhouse had
been a cultural institution in
West Houston since 1956,
when it first opened its doors
with its inaugural play,
Personal Appearance by
Lawrence Riley, at Memorial
Drive Elementary School
In 1958, Country Playhouse
acquired a space of their own,
Veteran’s Hall, an abandoned
church in need of much repair,
on Katy Road
In 1960, having
accumulated over $6,000
in profit, the organization
was able to purchase
land on Barryknoll Lane
and build a barn-like
structure for their
playhouse
In 1981, Country Playhouse
opened its home located on
Queensbury Lane
In 2014, the old theatre was
demolished and rebuilt as
Queensbury Theatre

Queensbury Theatre teaches and implements core values of inclusiveness, artistic
integrity, ethics, stewardship, progressive collaboration, cost effective fundraising, and high
return on investment
Queensbury Theatre commits to maintaining administrative cost nominal and dedicating
more than 85% of every dollar raised to support core programming directly benefitting our
students, patrons, artists, and performers
By doing so, Queensbury Theatre has the opportunity to advance our mission of “serving
the diverse community and culture of West Houston by providing exceptional
theatrical entertainment and education while creating an environment where
Houston artists and teachers can do meaningful work”
Queensbury Theatre has evolved from a small community theatre to a 21,000 square foot
epic-center for the arts; affording students, patrons, artists, performers, and the greater
community wider access to quality productions and programs regardless of their economic
background or zip code
Queensbury Theatre is well positioned to receive generous support from foundations,
corporations, and individuals to advance our mission and continue serving multiple
generations of theatre enthusiasts, artists, and performers who encompass a vast and
celebrated group of alumni and friends

5. QueensburyTheatre’s Accomplishments
For six decades, Queensbury Theatre continues to
serve as a community and entertainment hub for
families and West Houston residents
Through the development of Town & Country and
CityCentre, the theatre and Moody Rambin
developers swapped land leading to the building of a
new state of the art theatre
In 2015, rebranded as Queensbury Theatre and
doors officially open
In 2014-2015, launched Tribble School for the
Performing Arts as an educational and outreach arm
of Queensbury Theatre
Within a two-year period, grew annual operating
budget from $250,000 to $794,200 with diverse
funding sources to increase sustainability and
expansion initiatives
Recruitment of highly sought after instructional staff
and professionals entailing actors, singers, directors,
and dancers with experience on Broadway,
Hollywood and other vital theatrical entities
