QueensburyTheatre’s Evolution
Country Playhouse had
been a cultural institution in
West Houston since 1956,
when it first opened its doors
with its inaugural play,
Personal Appearance by
Lawrence Riley, at Memorial
Drive Elementary School
In 1958, Country Playhouse
acquired a space of their own,
Veteran’s Hall, an abandoned
church in need of much repair,
on Katy Road
In 1960, having
accumulated over $6,000
in profit, the organization
was able to purchase
land on Barryknoll Lane
and build a barn-like
structure for their
playhouse
In 1981, Country Playhouse
opened its home located on
Queensbury Lane
In 2014, the old theatre was
demolished and rebuilt as
Queensbury Theatre
2

3

CityCentre, the theatre and Moody Rambin
developers swapped land leading to the building of a
new state of the art theatre
 In 2015, rebranded as Queensbury Theatre and
doors officially open
 In 2014-2015, launched Tribble School for the
Performing Arts as an educational and outreach arm
