Management but also worked as Capability Leader to help others grow in different areas like Project Management, Leadership,
led or actively participated in initiatives to support women in their IT careers and other groups as well.
I also had the responsibility to establish a startup web development company, where I was hired as Information Officer, and was

hardware and equipment needed to get started, while the Leadership Team arrived from Singapore and other countries.

Work
Experience
Procter & Gamble – Consumer Goods worldwide leader
Systems Manager – Information Technology Solutions ITS
.
Since April 2006
Santa Ana, Costa Rica
I have led different initiatives with global or regional impact, managing resources in extended matrix
organizations located in many countries around the world. This imply working with people of different countries,
languages and cultures including internal as well as outsourced ones. To summarize will give few examples of
work done using context of situation, actions and results obtained.
Context: Needed to increase adoption usage for supplier solutions to increase plant resources productivity and
reduce manual touches in LA for vendors providing Raw & Pack Materials.
Actions: Implemented a strategy in the bigger LA countries (80/20 approach) to better understand the benefit of
using such tools versus manual work. Also 80/20 to work with top vendors first.
Results: in 4 months increased adoption from 5% to 60% having top vendors using the electronic solution and
smaller vendors using web application, reducing manual touches by 40%, increasing productivity savings.
Context: In the field of SAP Continuous improvements there was a need to restructure the way changes were
been managed as they were taking 5-6 months and very expensive approach.
Actions: Started with an approach to complete changes in waves of 3.5 months ~15 weeks by bundling a
number of requests per wave.
Results: First year completed 3 waves with 36 changes delivered in that fiscal year versus 12-14 previously
 Page 2 | Esmeralda Britton +506-8844-9879
Second year restructured to have overlapping waves to deliver changes every month. Results
increased efficiency by ~85% and reduced urgent changes by 80%.
Third year implemented Agile methodology. Results reduced time by 65% from 15 to 5 weeks. Urgent
requests were down to 0, cost of team was reduced to 60% of previous year delivering similar results.
Context: Innovation. Customer satisfaction and adoption of IT solutions is a challenge and as per industry
studies which also matched internally, 60% of SAP customized work is never used by users and also many of the
requirements don’t meet expectations or needs (“this is not what I wanted” type of comment) and worst needs
evolve and they are more expensive to handle as SPLC progresses or even more if they are in production.
Actions: Found an industry tool and run a Proof of Concept PoC, which allow IT people (together with User
Experience folks) visualize and simulate how the end solution would look like without developing a single line of
code, where users can use and test during discovery or blueprinting phases.
Results: Adoption was higher from day one, showed significant increase in customer satisfaction (4.6 out of 5 as
per survey results) as they got were they were expecting, reduced and eliminated rework up to 60% (changes or
new requirements pop up during testing phases) and reducing Project Lifecycle (PLC) time and cost by 20%.
Minister (Secretary) of Women’s Affairs May 2002- June 2004
Costa Rica Government Council
 Was entitled to hold the position of Minister of Women’s Affairs for Costa Rica Government reporting directly
to the President of the Country and part of the Government Council, managing an organization of 120
employees and promoting policies and laws to enable women to access rights in equal opportunities as men.
 Enabled and promoted law projects sent to the Congress to create laws that would reinforce gender
equity in the different areas, such as health, education and political access for women.
 Implemented polices within most of the government institutions to promote gender equity within
institutions but more on the service they provided to community to be gender inclusive
 Promoted the creation and sustainability of Women’s Office at the Major local governments –55 out
of 81 were created within the 2 years I was in that position
IT Manager in other companies
As IT manager in other companies I developed different roles and actions summarized some of them as follows
 Was hired as top IT Leader to established a new web development company back in 2000, had to hire every
employee (administrative and IT) and also support the process to get office, layout, equipment, software, etc.
 Have worked in other companies to manage the IT Support Center, manage local resources and implement
company standard software like Oracle Financials. Also with my leadership implemented a Point of Sales
system that later was used as regional model (for LA) to connect all the different retail stores to head-
quarters systems to obtain sales information, update inventory, etc. on a daily basis versus previous
approach managing everything manual and getting reports only on a monthly basis which enabled more
accurate and faster decision making.
