3. Paper was invented by the ancient
Chinese in the second century BC during
the Han dynasty when the Chinese were
inventing silk. By the tenth century the
way of making paper spread to Italy and
soon the south of Germany. People still
used the old papyrus and parchment.
4. the first pen was invented by Egyptians.
The first pen was called the reed pen. It
was made in 4,000 BC, followed by the
quill pen, fountain pens, the ballpoint
pen, and the modern ballpoint pen.
They made the reed pen because they
needed something to write with.

6. Man scratches the surface of moist clay
tablet with a bronze or a bone tool.
7. The Egyptians developed a form of writing
with pictures. For writing on papyrus scrolls
scribes used thin reed brushes or reed
pens.
8. The romans have been developing form of
writing, that they scribed into thin sheets of
wax (on wooden tablets). Romans used a
metal stylus. When they no longer needed
the writing, they rubbed it out with the flat
end of the stylus.
9. As well as writing on parchment, the anglo-
saxons also used tablets filled with wax for
notes and for planning the layout of large
books. They wrote on the tables with the
metal or bone stylus, that had a pointed
end and rubbed out the words with that
flat end.
10. The europeans found that writing on
parchment with a quill pen altered the style
of their writing. At first, they used capital
letters all the time, but later they
developed faster styles with small letters.

12. 600-1800 Europeans used quills.
1803 metal nibs were made. Became
popular in 1830s.
1884 1st

waterman.
1943 joseph Lazlo and George Biro
invent the first modern ballpoint pen.
13. 1953 1st
inexpensive ballpoint pen. Biro
brothers.
1960 felt tipped pens become popular.
1980-1990 roller ball pens. Mostly a new
comfortable ballpoint pen.
1997 ring pen went through U.S. upgrade
of the roller ball pen.
14. Paper is made from pulp and has an
extract from wood.
Papyrus was the first paper made with
the insides from reeds and then crushed
with a slab of stone.
Canvas is a more fresh product with no
additives but pulp. That is why the
material is rough unlike paper.
15. On average, a pen can write
approximately 4,500 words.
The word pen comes from the Latin word
‘pinna’.
The first ballpoint pen was invented in
1938 by Laszio Biro.
16. The pens we had
longtime ago like the
reed pen were not
so accurate,
considering the
material.
The pens we use
today are colorful,
come in different
sizes and shapes and
colors.
17. The paper we had
long time ago was
not so smooth,
making your
handwriting spoilt.
The paper we have
today is more
smoother, easy to
write on, and comes
in white. And comes
in different forms.
