1. QUESTION 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this media product?
2. Blogger is a website that I had never used before. It’s associated
with Google and allows people to publish blog posts on their own
personal profile. Blogger is hugely important regarding my media
studies work as it contains my whole foundation portfolio. Every
piece of work I completed would be uploaded in chronological
order publicly for anyone to see. It is extremely useful and I have
learnt the ability of using embed codes to stream technological
advanced pieces of work e.g. from YouTube or Prezi and the ability
to use Blogger in general. I would most certainly use Blogger again.
iPhoto is also quite unfamiliar. I have never used iPhoto as an editing
tool for photos therefore this is something new and useful I have
learnt. I uploaded all the shots I took for my magazine onto iPhoto
and then edited them for a more professional feel, the tools on
iPhoto were easy to use. I was able to compare similar photos and
then choose the best one for ‘Soundcheck’. So I will definitely be
using it again in the future.
3. iMovie is another technological aspect that I wasn’t familiar with
before the project. I had used iMovie when analysing the
preliminary task therefore I had some understanding of how it
works. I learnt to add images and music onto the movies which
helped increase my skills particularly for when I want to use it for
my A2 film making task. They work just as well as a PowerPoint
presentation but they are modern and professional and can be
easily accessed on by YouTube.
YouTube is a website particularly for streaming videos. Before the
project I was familiar with YouTube, however I had no idea of how
to upload and stream my own videos. I used YouTube to finalise
my iMovie videos to put on my blog, this is a new skill I have gained
in the process as I was able to share my videos by simply copying
the embed code. I will be using YouTube a lot more now I can do
this.
4. Photoshop is a computer-based software that I used to actually
make my magazine. I have used it before for other media projects
but for this task I feel I have learnt much more worthwhile skills
which enabled my magazine to look realistic. I can superimpose
photos onto one another, used editing tools on the texts such as
‘stroke’ and how to download different fonts off the internet and
incorporate them into my magazine.
Prezi, a presentation software on the internet is a brand new
technological feature I have learnt whilst completing my AS
project. I could make presentations for my task on Prezi and use
the embed code to upload each one onto my blog. It is extremely
useful and interactive to interest any viewers so I will definitely use
it again in the future.
SlideRocket & SlideShare are two similar presentation software
websites that I have never used before. It enables you to upload
PowerPoint presentations and then transform them into a smaller
window to share on websites like Blogger by copying and pasting the
embed code. This is a very useful way to make simple presentations
yet to have the ability to share them online.
5. Google Docs is a particular feature from Google which
I have only used once before. I used it to make a
questionnaire for my audience feedback, it is quick and
simple. The results are exported into a table which is
easy to access and it clearly displays your result. With a
Google account it is completely free, and by hyperlinking
the document on my blog it is very accessible. I will
certainly be using Google Docs whenever I want to
create a questionnaire/survey online.
