Outcomes
At the end of the session, you should be able to:
1. Identify the Filipino beliefs, convictions and attitudes;
2. Explain the Filipino norms and principles; and
3. Apply the concepts of Filipino beliefs, convictions, attitudes,
norms and principles in the educative process.
Warm-up Activity
Sharing:
“What one learns in childhood, he carries into
adulthood”
(Ang gawa sa pagkabata, dala hanggang sa pagtanda)
BELIEFS
• The state of believing; conviction or acceptance that certain
things are true or real
• The definition of a belief is an opinion or something that a
person holds to be true
• It is also an opinion which is why it cannot serve as the basis
for a formal argument

• To be convinced, you need to obtain all related information of
a certain topic.

• Based on the information that the conviction is built, a belief
changes with time and new experiences while a conviction
remains the same.

something that affects the behaviors
• They are complex and are acquired through experiences

• Priciple is a law or rule that has to be or can be desirably
followed
• Serve as guide to everyone
• The laws observed in nature or the way that a system is
constructed

Code of Ethics
- adopted and promulgated by the Board of
Professional Teachers thru Board Resolution No. 435,
series of 1997 (Article II of R.A No. 7836)
- known as Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act
of 1994
- teachers promote morality, nationalism and
patriotism

• Rules or expectations that are socially enforced
• May be prescriptive - encouraging positive behavior
(Be honest)
• May be proscriptive - discouraging negative behavior
(Do not cheat)

1. Respect Elders (Paggalang sa Nakatatanda)
- human library of wisdom-rich experiences that may
come in handy during tough times
- should honor them, listen to their words, follow
examples
- “po” at “opo”

2. Empathy (Pag-intindi sa Nararamdaman ng Iba)
- putting yourself in one’s shoe is rhe best way to
understand a person
- have to be careful with our words and actions
- best thing to do is smile, ask and be a friend

3. Deep Regard for Fellow Humans (Pakikipagkapwa-tao)
- sacrificing your own comfort for other ople is one
of the most gratifying deeds a human can do.

4. Patriotism (Pagiging Makabayan)
- more than memorizing Lupang Hinirang and
Panatang Makabayan
- patrionizing our own products, being faitful to the
law, and ensuring we fulfill our obligations as citizens
of the country

5. Cultural Continuity (Pagpapatuloy sa Kultura)
- not just practicing it but also ensuring its continuity
- soul of our humanness
- composed of traditions, morals, beliefs, and
everything that keep our community from falling
