3. Definition of supervision
• Inskipp and Proctor (1988) says that,
“Supervision is a working alliance between the
supervisor and a worker or workers in which the
worker can reflect on herself in her working
situation by giving an account of her work and
receives feedback and where appropriate
guidance and appraisal. The object of this
alliance is to maximize the competence of the
worker in providing a helping service.
• Gachutha (2009) views supervision as the care
support service provided to the psychotherapist
by seasoned practitioners for personal wellness
and therapeutic competence
