This document introduces mentors for the API (Asian Pacific Islander) First-Year/Transfer Cohort program at Ohio State University. It provides brief bios for 10 mentors that include their name, year in school, major and minor, student organizations involved in, hobbies, favorite thing about OSU, and life motto or favorite quote. The mentors represent a variety of fields of study and experiences and welcome first-year and transfer students to join the API cohort program meetings held every other Tuesday from 6-7pm in the MCC beginning September 2.

Heidi Liou | Senior | Fashion and Retail Studies

Hobbies: Playing piano, beatboxing, writing music, reading and video gaming.
Favorite thing about OSU: How easy it is to build a community if you can’t find one. Usually you can find a community, you
just have to look in the right places.
Life motto: Shut up, stop complaining and do it, in most circumstances what you are doing should not kill you.
Gayathri Veeraraghavan | Junior | Biochemistry | Minor in Biology
Student organizations: Indian Students Association, Buckeye Mela Committee, Alpha Epsilon Delta: Pre-med club
Hobbies: Playing piano, Volunteering at Nationwide Children’s hospital, singing when I find the time!
Favorite thing about OSU: No matter what, amongst the 60,000 people on campus you will always be able to find your own
quirky, special group of people that seem to match up with your own interests. OSU is such a diverse community and it really
is true that within such a big university, one seems to make it small for themseelf by finding their interests.
Life Motto: Just do it. (It’s very cliché but very true to who I am and how I work)

Hobbies: Singing jazz, writing poems and lyrics, learning new languages, cooking, riding bicycles, playing table tennis and
traveling around the world.
Favorite thing about being at OSU: OSU has a huge campus and processes over a thousand of different student orgs.
Life Motto: By walking out of your comfort zone, you can feel more comfortable.
