Over half of
Hindus voted
for BJP in UP:
Poll Survey
Lucknow: The BJP got the
support of the over half
of the Hindu voters while
the Samajwadi Party was
backed by over two-third
of Muslim electors in
the just-concluded Uttar
Pradesh Assembly polls,
a post-poll survey has
revealed. According to the
findings of the CSDS-
Lokniti survey, the BJP
saw a marginal increase
in its support among the
Muslim voters as com-
pared to the 2017 Assem-
bly elections. The study
also points to the fact that
the Akhilesh Yadav-led Sa-
majwadi Party got support
of 26 per cent of Hindu
voters, up from 18 per
cent in the last Assembly
elections. 8% Muslims

have found a unique

Some supporters are

At tattoo shops near

many people were spot-

During the recent

anath came to be
called “bulldozer

references of his gov-
ernment deploying
bulldozers to demolish
the ill-gotten property
of criminals and ma-

UNVEILED:8%MUSLIMSVOTEDFORBJPINUP
CSDS-Lokniti survey shows an increase of one per cent Muslim votes to saffron party as compared to 2017 assembly elections
First India Bureau
Lucknow: In bipolar
and highly polarized UP
assembly election in
which the state wit-
nessed sharp division
between two communi-
ties on religious lines
the CSDS-Lokniti has
come out with its find-
ings that ruling BJP,
despite general percep-
tion that Muslims vot-
ing against it, has suc-
ceeded in getting at
least eight percent vote
of the community
.
The survey showed
that among 20 per cent
Muslim votes the Sama-
jwadi Party secured
around 79 per cent and
at least eight per cent
votes went to the BJP,
which is an increase of
one per cent in 2017 as-
sembly elections.
Moreover, if past sur-
veys of 2019 Lok Sabha
elections are any indi-
cation, despite the cre-
scendo of anti-Muslim
electoral rhetoric there
has been a silent rising
trend in the community
to vote for the BJP.
With a substantial
percentage of Muslims
quietly supporting the
BJP, the party’s narra-
tive that the community
is anti-BJP and should
join the ‘mainstream’
appears to be an exag-
geration. These surveys
no doubt indicate that
the community is will-
ing to support the BJP,
but indicated that there
needed to be “two-way
traffic” and the BJP’s
posturing should trans-
late into action.
Thus with a continu-
ing political irrelevance
of the community since
2014 because of the
counter-mobilisation of
Hindus, there is again
concern over the futili-
ty of extending support
to the anti-BJP forma-
tions in the state. Many
suggestMuslimsshould
explore the possibilities
of opening up to the
BJP. Supporting the
non-BJP governments
out of fear of the BJP
bogey has not helped
them as their socio-eco-
nomic condition has
gone from bad to worse
over the decades.
“The community’s
condition is worse than
Dalits,” the Sachar com-
mittee report noted.
There is a feeling in the
community that they
will have to revisit their
penchant for “tactical
voting” against BJP as
has been ingrained in
their minds by Opposi-
tion parties. They will
have to stop treating the
“secular” formations as
their messiahs and the
BJP as their enemy.
There is no doubt that
Muslims have benefited
as much as Hindus from
the various welfare
schemes during the last
five years in UP.
The problem with
Muslim thinking is that
it is moulded by the
hardliners within the
community. It gets
swayed by the anti-BJP
rhetoric and shoots it-
self in the foot by
pledging its support to
whoever seems capable
of beating the saffron
brigade. But, this po-
larisation doesn’t work
for parties chosen by
the Muslims as their
benefactors.

TREND TO VOTE FOR THE BJP
According to a survey of ‘Religion, Caste,
Nationalism and Attitudes in India’ by the
US-based Pew Research Centre, around 20 per
cent of Muslims voted for the Bharatiya Janata
Party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. “One
out of five Muslims voted for BJP,” the survey
noted. A CSDS-Lokniti survey of 2019 had in-
dicated 14 per cent support for the BJP. When
CSDS posed a question to the community
before the 2019 Lok Sabha election on wheth-
er they supported another term to the Modi
government, 26 per cent said “yes”, whereas
31 per cent of Hindu respondents felt that the
Modi government should not get another term.

RUSSIA-UKRAINE CONFLICT MISINFO
ABUNDANCE LEADS TO PANIC BUYING IN INDIA
e are living in an era
which is called the infor-
mation age. Information
means knowledge or facts.
But not every piece of in-
formation that reaches us
needs to be correct. In this
era where the influence of
social media is increasing
rapidly
, with a large popu-
lation spending maximum
time on various social me-
dia platforms, the ex-
change of information is
bound to happen rapidly.
With this, the time to scan
the truth of the informa-
tion that is becoming in-
creasingly viral is almost
over. That is the reason,
the era is also known as
the post-truth era.
In this era, several
times there is a possibility
of spreading misinforma-
tion. These days we are
consuming a new form of
information in the war be-
tween Ukraine and Rus-
sia. The battle between
these two countries is be-
ing fought on social media
platforms, many times
more than on the ground.
This is the reason why the
fight between these two
countries has also been
proclaimed as an informa-
tion war.
From the day Russia an-
nounced the attack on
Ukraine, Russia also
launched an information
war. But as this war pro-
gresses, Ukraine now
seems to be winning this
new age war on the web at
least with the help of the
United States as most of
the social media plat-
forms are under the influ-
ence of the US and other
Western countries, in
such a situation, when
West has imposed many
sanctions on Russia re-
garding this war, then
how can Russia’s upper
hand in information war
be heavier than Ukraine?
Reports about
Ukraine’s digital army
have also been in the fore-
front against Russia.
Hundreds of volunteer
hackers have gathered
and have started giving a
befitting reply to Russia’s
information war by form-
ing a group of their own.
Many experts have start-
ed saying that these hack-
ers of Ukraine seem to be
more effective attackers
than any paramilitary un-
less, of course, a nuclear
threat comes true.
But during the informa-
tion war, the kind of infor-
mationorinformationthat
is being repeatedly made
public through Ukraine is
proving to be false or fake.
It is not that Russia, de-
spite limited means, is not
able to do propaganda
against Ukraine.
It is also making public
many types of informa-
tion about Ukraine in a
limited range. The kind of
information that is being
shared again and again
about its opponent in this
war from both sides, this
war has now become
“Misinformation War”.
Attempts are being
made by Russia to destroy
the status of Ukraine all
over the world. Russia also
seems to be trying that
through its misinforma-
tion, the Ukrainian people
and the army there should
lose courage. Ukraine, on
the other hand, is also con-
stantly sharing false infor-
mation against Russia to
gain the sympathy of the
world and keep the morale
of its citizens in the war.
This is not the first
time that misinformation
through social media
platforms have been
spread to gain points dur-
ing a battle. We have seen
many such examples be-
fore. Because most of peo-
ple are not interested in
knowing the truth of the
information that they
got. Therefore, the ten-
dency of hastily forward-
ing has started increas-
ing rapidly these days.
Due to this, the busi-
ness of misinformation
has also cemented. The
same phenomenon is vis-
ible in the war between
Russia and Ukraine. In
such a situation, as vigi-
lant citizen, we have to try
to bridge the gap between
this information and mis-
information being shared
on social media platforms.
If we can do this, then we
will also be able to make
this new world of infor-
mation better. Otherwise,
the war of perception will
doom every possibility of
peace and harmony left in
this world.
PANIC BUYING
The ongoing war between
Russia and Ukraine since
February 24 is now show-
ing effects all over the
world. Even though
bombs and gunpowder are
raining thousands of kilo-
meters away from India,
the bad effect of war is
starting to take place here
too. According to reports,
after Russia’s attack on
Ukraine, people in India
have started to panic buy-
ing. Especially in the case
of edible oil, people are
buying and stocking more
than necessary
.
FEAR SPREADING
AMONG PEOPLE DUE
TO VIRAL FAKE
MESSAGES
According to a report, peo-
ple are afraid that due to
this corrosion, there may
be a shortage of edible
oils. Fake messages going
viral on WhatsApp that
there may be a shortage of
edible oils in the market
due to unrest are adding to
the panic buying. After re-
ceiving the messages. Peo-
ple in India have bought as
much as 20 litres of edible
oil at one go.
INDIA’S OVER 90%
SUNFLOWER OIL
COMES FROM
RUSSIA, UKRAINE
The price of edible oil in
India has increased by
more than 20 percent in
the last one month. In the
midst of such a surge in
prices, viral fake mes-
sages are promoting pan-
ic buying. India depends
on imports to a large ex-
tent in terms of edible
oil. In the case of edible
oil, two-thirds of India’s
requirements are met by
imports. Talking about
sunflower oil, India is al-
most completely depend-
ent on Russia and
Ukraine in this matter.
More than 90 percent of
India’s total sunflower oil
import comes from these
two countries.
THE SUPPLY OF ALL
OTHER EDIBLE OILS
WON’T BE AN ISSUE
Although experts believe
that there is no need to
panic, because even if
there is, there will be a
shortage of sunflower oil
only. There is no problem
in the supply of all other
edible oils like palm oil,
soya oil, mustard oil,
groundnut oil etc. There-
fore, there is no need for
panic buying.

New Delhi: The tone of
the leaders of the Aam
Aadmi Party has
changed. After AAP’s
massive victory in Pun-
jab, party leaders have
started saying that the
‘Kejriwal Model of Gov-
ernance’ has been cho-
sen by the people. Keep
in mind that earlier
Delhi model was dis-
cussed in AAP’s public-
ity
. Before that, when
Narendra Modi came
onto the national politi-
cal scene to contest the
generalelections,hehad
shown the Gujarat mod-
el to the whole country
.
ButtheBJPdidnotlabel
it as Modi model of gov-
ernance, rather it ws
termedtheGujaratmod-
el. The way the Gujarat
model was discussed in
public sphere, the same
waytheDelhimodelwas
being discussed, prior to
assembly results.
But after the election
results, AAP leaders
have started calling it
the Kejriwal model.
Soon after initial trends,
DelhiDeputyChief Min-
ister Manish Sisodia
said it was a victory for
“governance on the Ke-
jriwal model”. After a
while, Raghav Chadha,
in-charge of Punjab, re-
peated the same line. So,
now the name of the
Delhi model has been
changed to Kejriwal
model, which the Aam
Aadmi Party will capi-
talizeonintheassembly
elections in two states -
Gujarat and Himachal
Pradesh - to be held later
thisyear.Children’sedu-
cation, women’s earn-
ings, ration to the poor
and care of everyone’s
health are being told to
be the merits of this
model. The way Nitish
Kumar had talked about
development with jus-
tice in Bihar, even
thoughdevelopmenthas
not really happened,
similarly development
with justice is being
talked about under the
Kejriwal model.
What is the Kejriwal model of governance?

relevant issues along
the LAC in the western

Lucknow: Histori-
cal results have come
in Uttar Pradesh.
This is the first time
after more than three
decades that a party
has returned to pow-
er for the second
time in a row, and for
the first time since
independence, that a
Chief Minister has
won for the second
time in a row after
completing five years
in office. This time
the Uttar Pradesh
elections were also
historic in the sense
that for the first time
such a face-to-face
contest took place
and more than 95 per
cent of the seats were
divided between only
two parties. The vote
percentage is defi-
nitely divided be-
tween some parties
but only BJP and SP
have got seats.
While BJP in-
creased the vote per-
centage compared to
the last assembly
elections, the vote
percentage of SP in-
creased by about 15
percent. Till now it
had got highest 28
percent votes but
this time it got close
to 35 percent votes.
The Bahujan Samaj
Party remained at a
respectable level of
13-14 per cent of the
vote. But this vote
percentage did not
work in terms of
seats. About 96-97
per cent of the 403 as-
sembly seats in the
state are divided be-
tween the BJP and
the SP alliance. The
remaining three-
four per cent seats
are divided among
dozens of parties
like BSP, Congress,
MIM, JDU, VIP.

PROBLEMS OF
STRAY CATTLE
The Maholi Nagar Panchayat
chairperson Sarita Gupta in
the Sitapur district has
informed District Magistrate
Vishal Bhardwaj through a
letter about the misuse of Rs
28 lakhs for the care of
destitute cows from state
finances. Most of the schemes
are made for benefit of
citizens of the state, but the
Uttar Pradesh government has
launched many schemes for
destitute cattle. The Yogi
government had promised to
give Rs 30 per day for the
care and upkeep of destitute
animals. Apart from this, for
the protection and
maintenance of destitute
cows, the state government is
running permanent-temporary
cow shelters, cow protection
centers, animal shelters,
etc. Maholi Nagar Panchayat
President Sarita Gupta
informed that the Yogi
government made
arrangements for Kanha
Upvan for only destitute
children, but failed to make
arrangements for their
maintenance. She further said
that since 2020, about Rs 28
lakhs had been spent on
destitute cows from the state
finances. It may be mentioned
that this money of state
finance was for the employees
of the municipality and for
many other development
works, but was spent on
destitute cows. Gupta accused
District Magistrate Vishal
Bhardwaj had been informed
in writing but no solution had
been found so far.

FIVE STAR
LUTYENS
JOURNALISTS
FAIL TO READ
WRITINGS
ON UP WALL
By 12 noon on counting day on
March 10, it was clear that
Akhilesh Yadav’s noisy campaign
to be the chief minister of Uttar
Pradesh had been undone by Yogi
Adityanath’s quiet but effective
governance. The famous ‘Aa
Rahein Hain Akhilesh’ (Akhilesh
Yadav is Coming) slogan did not
translate to reality. Many five-star
‘Lutyens journalists’ had
predicted the election in favour of
Akhilesh Yadav based on the
readings on their Khan market-
grown ‘enthusiasm meter’ for the
crowds that visited the election
rallies. Today, they are searching
for an alibi to justify their lazy and
wrong predictions. But looks like,
at some points, Akhilesh Yadav
fell prey to his own propaganda,
propaganda that was fuelled by
the cover fire of many
exaggerated media
narratives. When Akhilesh got
three ministers of Yogi’s cabinet
to quit the BJP and join his party,
certain sections of the media
went berserk and called it the
ultimate masterstroke by Akhilesh
Yadav to expand his party’s non-
Yadav OBC base. Two of these
turncoat ministers, Swami Prasad
Maurya and Dharm Singh Saini,
lost their own elections, let alone
positively affecting other seats for
the Samajwadi Party. In fact, all
these journalists who were
providing cover fire to Akhilesh
Yadav did a great disservice to
him, by keeping him away from
reality. He became a victim of
their false propaganda and the
counting day shattered his lazy
dream of 400 seats.

SHIVPAL MEETS AKHILESH,
MAY SIT AS LEADER OF OPPN
Poll results were discussed during the meet between the 2 that lasted for about an hour
First India Bureau
Lucknow: On Satur-
day, National President
of Progressive Sama-
jwadi Party and MLA
from Jaswant Nagar
Shivpal Singh Yadav
met Samajwadi Party
national president Akh-
ilesh Yadav. The elec-
tion results were dis-
cussed during the talks
between the two that
lasted for about an hour.
It is believed that
Shivpal could be given
the responsibility of
Leader of Opposition
in the Assembly. How-
ever, the Samajwadi
Party has not yet offi-
cially confirmed it. SP’s
national spokesperson
Rajendra Chaudhary
said that a meeting of
MLAs has been called
on March 21 wherein
discussion on this issue
could be held. Shivpal
on UP election result
said that the atmos-
phere was in our favour
but there were some
shortcomings in the
party which would be
analyzed and discuss to
strengthen the party
further. Shivpal is MLA
from Jaswantnagar and
had won by 90 thousand
votes. Shivpal got
1,58,531 votes, while
BJP candidate Vivek
Shakya got only 68454
votes making Shivpal
win by 90077 votes. He
got 62.89 percent of the
votes. He said that there
were some shortcom-
ings in the organiza-
tion and party workers
were overconfident.
Apart from this, what-
ever tricks BJP had
done, his workers had
not been able to answer
and that the votes of SP
supporters were de-
ducted from the voter
list, due to which party
had suffered.
He said that the BJP
created an atmosphere
in its favor by giving
free ration to the public
and money in their ac-
count. He said that they
would review the elec-
tion result move for-
ward. Meanwhile, it is
being discussed that SP
President Akhilesh may
resign from Karhal
leading to a possibility
of holding by-election.

Lucknow: Bahujan
Samaj Party chief
Mayawati on Friday ad-
mitted that her party’s
rout in the UP Assem-

minister pointed out
that it has become clear
that the BSP was not
“BJP’s B Team” and
that negative cam-

misleading the people
of the state. The BSP
which formed a full ma-

Addressing a press

tions, former state min-
ister Swami Prasad
Maurya claimed “nag

newale ko jitne nahi
diya (cobra snake
joined hands to ensure
that mongoose didn’t

that the mongoose al-
ways wins in fights
with the snake. He
sought to suggest that
he was the mongoose
and his rivals were
snakes in the recently
held Assembly polls in
which he lost from the
Fazilnagar seat.
Maurya’s comment
was also apparently
aimed at the BJP gain-
ing from the support of
the traditional voters of
the BSP in some of the
Assembly constituen-
cies in the state polls.
Maurya had switched
allegiance on the poll
eve to join the Samajwa-
di Party. He was a BJP
MLA and a minister in
the Yogi Adityanath
Cabinet in the state. In
2016, he while being the
national general secre-
tary of the BSP had
joined the BJP in the
run-up to the 2017 As-

.
Speaking to ANI to-

“Mongoose is always
superior to a snake. It is
a different matter that
both the snake and the
cobra together did not
let the mongoose win.”

MANY PARTIES MAY
MERGE IN BJP
In this changing
weather, it seems the
yellow Sunlight has
also changed to saffron.
When the ballot box
opened on March 10, the
hopes of many parties
were also dashed. Even
though the BJP stunned
its opponents with its
trot but many questions
still remain unan-
swered. As a Congress
leader says, “Modi’s vic-
tory is friable from
within because, before
the latest poll results of
5 states, BJP already
had 399 seats out of to-
tal 690 seats. Now after
the results, it is left with
356 seats i.e. 43 seats
have been reduced.”
But it should also be
asked as to what hap-
pened to the morale of
the Congress in Punjab
where it handed over
the victory to AAP. How
did the call of victory in
U’khand turn into an
outcry of defeat? Why
did the public reject Pri-
yanka’s ‘ladki hoon lad
sakti hoon’ chant in
UP? Therefore, today
there is a need for intro-
spection not by the BJP
but by the Congress,
whose many big leaders
are still ready to break
away. With the opposi-
tion flag-waving in 4 of
these 5 states, the BJP
plans to merge at least 3
parties into its Saffron
fold by end of this year.
Mayawati is said to be
ready for this, who, in
this polls transferred 70
to 80 percent of her core
vote bank directly to the
BJP. Her eyes are on an
honorable farewell
from politics. Her eyes
are on President post
but if she does not get
it, she may agree on the
post of VP
. This way she
will get rid of all the
cases and will be able to
live a peaceful constitu-
tional life. If this hap-
pens, she may be ready
to merge her party BSP
with BJP. More or less
same is the case with
Nitish. His first attempt
was to become the face
of Opp unit at Centre.
He again contacted PK
in this regard, explored
the possibilities for
himself, but if the plan
does not materialise,
then he too may easily
surrender to the saf-
fron. If he is made the
Prez or VP, he may be
ready to merge his par-
ty JDU with the BJP as
JDU’s influence is now
limited to Bihar only
.
HINTS OF BIG
CHANGES IN BJP
ORGANISATION
As per sources, there
may be changes in
BJP leadership before
polls in HP. High com-
mand can play bets on
Nadda in HP and Dhar-
mendra Pradhan’s
name is in discussion
for BJP Prez in place of
Nadda. But if Nadda re-
fuses, another face can
get chance in HP. As per
sources, BJP can play
bets on Anurag Thakur.
BL Santosh may also be
changed from the post
of Gen Secy of BJP and
NN Tripathi may re-
place Santosh. At pre-
sent, Tripathi is han-
dling the responsibility
of Gen secy in Bihar
and Jharkhand. On the
other hand, this matter
is also being considered
in the high command as
to how much free hand
should be given to Yogi
in UP and how can there
be better coordination
between Yogi and Sunil
Bansal? Meanwhile,
there are talks of chang-
ing UP BJP Chief Swa-
tantra D Singh as well.
‘ONE NATION, ONE
ELECTION’
SPECULATION
INTENSIFIES
This old idea of ‘One
Nation, One Elec-
tion’ of PM Modi has
started making waves
again after the bumper
victory of BJP in four
states. Modi has been
saying in the past that
‘Parliamentary elec-
tions and assembly elec-
tionsof allstatesshould
be held simultaneously,
this will save a lot of
money for the country
.’
PM Modi came up with
this idea about four
years ago. More than Rs
60,000 crore were spent
on 2019 LS polls alone. It
is said that ECI also
agrees with this opin-
ion of PM, but to do so,
a consensus will need to
be created among other
political parties.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN
TO MUKESH SAHNI?
What will happen to
Mukesh Sahni,
who repeatedly cursed
the BJP? Will BJP give
him a dressing down?
Mukesh Sahni’s Vi-
kassheel Insaan Party
i.e. VIP is a popular
party among the Mal-
lahs-Nishads of Bihar
which is currently a
part of NDA in Bihar.
But despite this, Sahni
violated the accepted
conventions of NDA
and fielded 53 candi-
dates from his party in
this UP election. Sahni,
who took oath of oust-
ing BJP from power in
UP, forgot this time that
he had tasted power in
Bihar only because of
the BJP. The power of
making him MLC again
is also in the hands of
BJP. It should be noted
that Sahni’s VIP party
had 4 MLAs in Bihar,
out of which one Musa-
fir Paswan passed away
.
There are 3 left who can
join BJP anytime, be-
cause it was the BJP
who made them contest
the election with the
symbol of VIP. Then
what will Mukesh Sah-
ni do? To harbour en-
mity for someone who
gives you shelter?
STONE PELTING
AND LATHICHARGE
IN SIRATHU!
On day of counting
of votes on March
10, everyone’s eyes were
fixed on Sirathu seat in
UP where Deputy CM
KP Maurya and Dr Pal-
lavi Patel of Apna Dal
Kameravadi were face
to face. All eyes were on
this hot seat, then the
counting of votes was
stopped late in the even-
ing and after that Kes-
hav and Pallavi sup-
porters clashed with
each other. Police re-
sorted to lathi charge to
control the matter. Only
then Yogi called offi-
cials saying, “There
should not be any rig-
ging in counting of
votes and work should
be done honestly”.
IS SENA COMING
CLOSER TO BJP?
Shiv Sena chief and
Mah CM Uddhav
Thackeray is a bit ill
these days. Anyway his
real concern is to estab-
lish his son Aaditya in
politics. It is said that he
often talks to the leaders
of other parties to keep
getting hints. Uddhav’s
real concern is actually
about stand of NCP
, an
ally in his govt. Uddhav
feels that Sharad Pawar
himself is not so com-
fortable and open to ac-
cept Aaditya. At the
sametime,whenhewent
to meet Modi last year
with his son Aaditya, he
found Modi’s attitude to-
wards son very positive.
Perhaps this is reason
why these days Uddhav
is once again increasing
closeness with BJP

upon me that I wanted to be
an actress. It somehow feels
like it’s always been there,
the acting ka keeda, during
my college day I took acting
lessons and worked in thea-

also bagged an award for

videos, my first break was
for the T-Series”.
When asked about her
habits, likes and dislikes
she said, “I am an emotion-

in my High school days, I
was fat. My favourite junk
food is Pani-puri. It’s my all-

low depths of sorrow
that lurk on the other
side of their euphor-

often than not, they
feel guilty for experi-
encing joy and being
the ‘happy puppy’ in
good times.
On the other side,
someone like me is
fiercely independent
and passionately sad
through the highs
and lows that life has
to offer!
Hence, we hover
above the borderline
of self – destruction
and melodramatic ex-
pressions. Well, the
truthisthatthereisan
interesting duality to
life, and this is exhib-
itedbyeverythingthat
nature has to offer:
• Love and hate
• Joy and sorrow
• Darkness and light
• Life and death
• Good and evil
Some people like to
focus on one side over
the other and pretend
that the other side
does not exist. They
camouflage their
emotions under the
garb of being con-
tent, gratitude and
having no expecta-
tions at all…But in
reality
, they are living
in a bubble free from
elemental virtues of
honesty, candour and
acceptance.
In my opinion,
LIFE is a business
and you are the CEO
who decides whether
this business of liv-
ing is going to be easy
or difficult.
In 1940s, Psychia-
trist and psychother-
apist Viktor Frankl
had developed a con-
cept called logothera-
py, after surviving
Nazi concentration
camps. His experi-
ence and theories are
detailed in his book,
“Man’s Search for
Meaning.” He be-
lieved that humans
are motivated by
something called a
“will to meaning,” He
emphasised that life
can have meaning
even in the most
wretched circum-
stances and the moti-
vation for living
comes from finding
that meaning.
And therefore, I to-
tally believe that life
weaves a tragic triad
of human existence
thatcannotbeescaped:
Pain, guilt and death.
I’m sure you are
thinking that this ar-
ticle is going too dark
now, but trust me that
this will open new
doors in your thought
process. It is obvious-
ly tempting to take a
pessimist’s view of
life and scoff at opti-
mism in general. The
void that is created by
pain and suffering
and the loss that can
smoothly make us
fall into the apparent
meaninglessness pit!
I propose a solid
case for tragic opti-
mism in this world,
precisely because of
our innate ability to
find meaning, despite
the tragedies that
surround us. It re-
minds of Milton’s
saying, “our minds
can make hell out of
heaven, or heaven out
of hell.”
It is our own duty,
to not let what hap-
pens or what will
happen, turn us down
the road of the pessi-
mist, the fatalist, the
defeatist and the
doomsday expert.
We are innately

in those who held on
to their humanity /
dignity and showed
virtue even in the
heart of darkness.
Even during those
darkest of times, he
preached, “Say yes
to life in spite of eve-
rything.”
WE ALL SEE IT,
DON’T WE?
• In someone who still
makes a point of smil-
ing, laughing and jok-
ing…even when
they’ve been given a
morbid diagnosis.
• In those who use
their suffering as a
fuel for their creativi-
ty, or an opportunity
to grow stronger and
exercise resilience.
• In the one’s who take
immense responsibil-
ity and grab life by the
horns, no matter
how many times
they fail.
• In the spouses
who find
more than
just sor-
row in
the ab-

.
Life is indeed full
of surprises…good,
bad, sweet, bitter and
we can choose to face
life with an attitude
that is steadfast to
make the best of its
pleasures and its
pain alike.
The word ‘opti-
mism’ has been de-
rived from the Latin
word ‘optimum’ that
simply means “the
best”. Life will cer-
tainly throw some-
thing at you, so bear
it with an attitude
that makes you
stronger, rather than
weaker.
• Don’t let your suffer-
ing go waste, turn
them into stories of
success and resilience.
• If you have experi-
enced guilt, use it to
grow and change into
a better person.
• Reflect upon a deep
understanding for the
fleetingness of life,
spur yourself to take
responsibility and
meaningful action.
Remember, Life is a
precious gift and the
world is increasingly
getting full of pessi-
mists…It could sure-
ly do with a few more
optimists!

she made it happen.
What do you like
most about working
as a beauty influ-
encer?
What I really like
most about working as
a beauty influencer is
that it makes me more
confident about my-
self. The kind of confi-
dence I get after being
recognised as a beauty
influencer cannot be
matched. It builds my
personality in a better
way
.Itdefinitelymakes
me a better person.
What is the most dif-
ficult part of work-
ing as a beauty in-
fluencer and how do
you handle it?
The most difficult
part of working as a
beauty influencer is
that the product
should not harm my
clients. Therefore, I
use the product before
I recommend it to my
clients. It becomes my
responsibility to first
try that product. At
times I have to try mul-
tiple products simulta-
neously which some-
times affects my skin.
What do you think
is the most challeng-
ing beauty therapy
process?
I feel that any beau-
ty therapy process re-
lated to skin is highly
challenging. Different
skin types play a vital
role in it. It is mainly
because of the ingredi-
ents that are used in
the product given to
the uncertainty of
how the skin will react
to them.
Have you ever had a
problem with a cli-
ent’s skin reacting to
your products?
No, I have been fortu-
nate enough to claim
that ever since I have
been in this field, I have
not yet come across
any such complaints
from my clients.
What motivates you?
My motivation is
that through me young
girls can understand
how important it is to
love yourself, your
skin and your body. I
think that brings to my
face everyday

Jagdev, who was driving an SUV, was initially stopped by the crowd as he tried to drive through the heav- ily crowded road. Local residents then pulled him out of the car and assaulted him. Ukraine mosque housing civilians shelled, destroyed Pakistan seeks joint probe after India misfires missile RSS says fanaticism growing in the name of the Constitution Mariupol (Agencies): A mosque in the south- eastern Ukrainian port city of Mariupol, where 80 civilians were taking shelter, has been shelled by Russian forces, Ukraine’s foreign min- istry said on Saturday . “The mosque of Sul- tan Suleiman the Mag- nificent and his wife Roxolana (Hurrem Sul- tan) in Mariupol was shelled by Russian in- vaders. More than 80 adults and children are hiding there from the shelling, including citi- zens of Turkey,” the ministry wrote on its Twitter account. It did not specify when the shelling took place. Contacted by AFP , Turkish foreign minis- try in Istanbul said it had “no information”. However, the Ukrain- ian embassy in Ankara told AFP it had alerted Turkey’s foreign minis- try to the attack, with- out specifying when or whether it had received any response. On Monday , the Turk- ish consulate in the southern port of Odes- sa had issued a tweet urging Turkish citizens to take shelter in the mosque “with a view to be being evacuated” to Turkey . Islamabad (Agencies): A day after India ac- knowledgedthata“tech- nical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile”whichlandedin Pakistan, Islamabad on Saturday demanded a joint probe to accurately establish the facts sur- rounding the incident. • 2. UTTAR PRADESH LUCKNOW | SUNDAY, MARCH 13, 2022 02 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epaper/ I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia First India Bureau Varanasi: Af- ter the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)’s massive win in the Uttar Pradesh elections, in Varanasi supporters have found a unique way to celebrate- get- ting ‘bulldozer’ tattoos inked on their arms. Some supporters are also sporting ‘Bulldoz- er Baba’ tattoos. At tattoo shops near Varanasi Assi Ghat, many people were spot- ted getting the tattoos. During the recent elections, Yogi Adity- anath came to be called “bulldozer baba” due to frequent references of his gov- ernment deploying bulldozers to demolish the ill-gotten property of criminals and ma- fias in the state. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav during a speech had said, “Till now we were calling him “Baba Chief Minis- ter” but today one of the reputed English newspapers called him ‘Baba Bulldozer’. I have not kept this name, this name was kept by a reputed Eng- lish newspaper.” The moniker for Adity- anath caught on quickly and gained popularity. Craze for ‘bulldozer’ tattoos after BJP’s win in UP A DIFFERENT HIGH  Some supporters of saffron party are also getting ‘Bulldozer Baba’ tattoos on their arms in Varanasi to celebrate party’s win in UP polls UNVEILED:8%MUSLIMSVOTEDFORBJPINUP CSDS-Lokniti survey shows an increase of one per cent Muslim votes to saffron party as compared to 2017 assembly elections First India Bureau Lucknow: In bipolar and highly polarized UP assembly election in which the state wit- nessed sharp division between two communi- ties on religious lines the CSDS-Lokniti has come out with its find- ings that ruling BJP, despite general percep- tion that Muslims vot- ing against it, has suc- ceeded in getting at least eight percent vote of the community . The survey showed that among 20 per cent Muslim votes the Sama- jwadi Party secured around 79 per cent and at least eight per cent votes went to the BJP, which is an increase of one per cent in 2017 as- sembly elections. Moreover, if past sur- veys of 2019 Lok Sabha elections are any indi- cation, despite the cre- scendo of anti-Muslim electoral rhetoric there has been a silent rising trend in the community to vote for the BJP. With a substantial percentage of Muslims quietly supporting the BJP, the party’s narra- tive that the community is anti-BJP and should join the ‘mainstream’ appears to be an exag- geration. These surveys no doubt indicate that the community is will- ing to support the BJP, but indicated that there needed to be “two-way traffic” and the BJP’s posturing should trans- late into action. Thus with a continu- ing political irrelevance of the community since 2014 because of the counter-mobilisation of Hindus, there is again concern over the futili- ty of extending support to the anti-BJP forma- tions in the state. Many suggestMuslimsshould explore the possibilities of opening up to the BJP. Supporting the non-BJP governments out of fear of the BJP bogey has not helped them as their socio-eco- nomic condition has gone from bad to worse over the decades. “The community’s condition is worse than Dalits,” the Sachar com- mittee report noted. There is a feeling in the community that they will have to revisit their penchant for “tactical voting” against BJP as has been ingrained in their minds by Opposi- tion parties. They will have to stop treating the “secular” formations as their messiahs and the BJP as their enemy. There is no doubt that Muslims have benefited as much as Hindus from the various welfare schemes during the last five years in UP. The problem with Muslim thinking is that it is moulded by the hardliners within the community. It gets swayed by the anti-BJP rhetoric and shoots it- self in the foot by pledging its support to whoever seems capable of beating the saffron brigade. But, this po- larisation doesn’t work for parties chosen by the Muslims as their benefactors. Women voters show their ink-marked fingers after casting their votes for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, in Lucknow recently. —FILE PHOTO TREND TO VOTE FOR THE BJP According to a survey of ‘Religion, Caste, Nationalism and Attitudes in India’ by the US-based Pew Research Centre, around 20 per cent of Muslims voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. “One out of five Muslims voted for BJP,” the survey noted. A CSDS-Lokniti survey of 2019 had in- dicated 14 per cent support for the BJP. When CSDS posed a question to the community before the 2019 Lok Sabha election on wheth- er they supported another term to the Modi government, 26 per cent said “yes”, whereas 31 per cent of Hindu respondents felt that the Modi government should not get another term. BJP gears up to implement poll promisesonHoli First India Bureau Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh has made a list of actions to be implemented as it pre- pares for its second term in the state, days after the party emerged victorious in the assem- bly elections. Preparations to im- plement the promises made in its ‘Sankalp Patra’ - party’s mani- festo for the state - in the first cabinet meet- ing after the new government is formed have begun. Over the issue of abandoned animals and stray cattle, the BJP government is consid- ering options of setting up new cow protection centers and cow safari. A decision is likely to be taken to pay the sug- arcane farmers in 14 days and, if time ex- ceeds, then the payment would be made with in- terest. A decision re- garding the recruit- ment for vacant posts in many departments is also on the anvil. Besides, prepara- tions to fulfill the par- ty’s promise to provide free LPG cylinders on Holi are underway. There are about 1 crore beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme in the state and about Rs 1,000 crores will be spent on this scheme. The BJP has retained power in Uttar Pradesh by winning 255 out of 403 constituencies, se- curing a 41.29 per cent vote share. Yogi Adity- anath will be the first CM in the last 37 years to return to power after completing a full term in the state. As per sources, the BJP government is likely to take oath after Holi, which is falling on March 18 this year. Cabinet to take oath after Holi, Baby Rani may become dy CM First India Bureau Lucknow: With Yogi Adityanath all set to be installedasChief Minis- terforhissecondtenure, all eyes are now on his ministerial team to take the BJP agenda ahead in the state. PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister AmitShah,BJPchief JP Nadda, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states are also scheduled to attend the oath taking ceremo- ny which the govern- ment has planned on grand level. The fresh cabinet may take oath after Holi. Even as consultations were underway in Delhi about the next team of ministers, indications are that oath ceremony would be held on March 20. Like in previous Cab- inet, Yogi Adityanath is likelytohavetwodeputy chief ministers and names of Baby Rani Maurya Jatav, Satish Mahana, Brijesh Pathak are in circulation. In view of defeat of Deputy CM in out-going government Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu, the BJP would have to find another prominent OBC leader to fill the gap. However, the possibility of Mau- rya being inducted into Union Cabinet and be- coming Rajya Sabha member is also on the cards. The BJP had pro- jected Baby Rani Mau- rya Jatav, who has won from Agra Rural, is prominent leader of Dalit community to counter BSP chief Mayawati. Before the election Baby Rani had resigned from gover- norship of Uttrakhand to join BJP as vice pres- ident. The 18th assem- bly is also likely to have a new Speaker and name of Suresh Kumar Khanna (Shahjehan- pur) is being discussed in political circle. In view of defeat of 11 ministers in the elec- tions the BJP has launchedexercisetofind alternative names to fill the vacuum. Lucknow: (PTI) The Congress’ star women candidates, who entered the election fray as a symbol of struggle with the slogan Ladki Hoon, LadSaktiHoon’,secured lessthan3,000voteseach and had to even forfeit their deposits. From Unnao’s Sadar seat, the Congress had fielded Asha Devi, the mother of a rape victim. The grand old party had also engaged its team of workers from Rajasthan and MP to campaign for her. However, Devi bagged only 1,555 votes. On Devi’s electoral de- feat, her daughter told PTI,Mymotherhasdefi- nitely lost the election, but we want to support the struggle of women andvictims, andbecome their voice. She said she refrained from entering the fray this time, against Priyanka Gan- dhi wish, because she was young, after which the Congress fielded her mother. I will contest the elections in 2027, the rape victim asserted. The Congress had field- ed Sadaf Jafar, who was jailed during the agita- tion against the Citizen- ship (Amendment) Act and the National Regis- ter of Citizens, from the Lucknow Central seat. Jafar, however, could get only 2,927 votes. SAND-ART SALUTE A sand art of Uttar Pradesh is made in saffron color to commemorate the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State Assembly election, in Prayagraj. BJP FIELDED 104 NEW FACES IN STATE POLLS,80 CANDIDATES REGISTER WIN First India Bureau Lucknow: BJP’s strat- egy of giving chance to new faces in 104 assem- bly constituencies has been successful in the UP assembly elections as 80 candidates regis- tered success. On the other hand, the BJP won 19 seats in 2022 out of the 84 seats it lost in 2017. The fig- ures revealed that if BJP did not change candidates, election re- sults could have been dismayal for it. The BJP had contest- ed on 376 seats out of 403 in assembly elec- tions. Despite all oppo- sition and pressure, the party struck off tickets of 80 MLAs in- cluding three minis- ters while 14 MLAs, including three minis- ters, left BJP before elections and joined SP. Due to this, new faces were given op- portunity on these seats as well. BJP had given tickets to 214 MLAs including 45 ministers again. The study said the net satisfaction with the Modi government at the Centre was three times higher than that of Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh, indicating the Modi magic helped BJP return to power for the second term. The Lokniti-CSDS poll survey also points to a new group of bene- ficiaries of welfare schemes such as Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ujjwala Scheme, etc. rooting for the ruling coalition, ir- respective of caste and religious consider- ations. Another import- ant fact was that allay- ing all pre-poll appre- hensions, the BJP got more support among farmers, Brahmins, and also increased its out- reach among SCs, even among Mayawati’s core vote bank Jatavs. The BJP-led coalition broke over three decades old record by getting re-elected for a second consecutive time in UP under CM Yogi. Thirty-eight per cent responders said devel- opment topped their pri- ority, 12 per cent said changing or removing the government guided them to the polling booth and 10 per cent listed functioning of the government as their consideration. Surprisingly Ram Mandir and Hindutva found favour only among 2 per cent re- sponders and so was the topic of stray animal menace raised by the op- ponents prominently to put the Adityanath gov- ernment on the mat. Information means knowledge or facts. But not every piece of in- formation that reaches us needs to be correct. In this era where the influence of social media is increasing rapidly , with a large popu- lation spending maximum time on various social me- dia platforms, the ex- change of information is bound to happen rapidly. With this, the time to scan the truth of the informa- tion that is becoming in- creasingly viral is almost over. That is the reason, the era is also known as the post-truth era. In this era, several times there is a possibility of spreading misinforma- tion. These days we are consuming a new form of information in the war be- tween Ukraine and Rus- sia. The battle between these two countries is be- ing fought on social media platforms, many times more than on the ground. This is the reason why the fight between these two countries has also been proclaimed as an informa- tion war. From the day Russia an- nounced the attack on Ukraine, Russia also launched an information war. But as this war pro- gresses, Ukraine now seems to be winning this new age war on the web at least with the help of the United States as most of the social media plat- forms are under the influ- ence of the US and other Western countries, in such a situation, when West has imposed many sanctions on Russia re- garding this war, then how can Russia’s upper hand in information war be heavier than Ukraine? Reports about Ukraine’s digital army have also been in the fore- front against Russia. Hundreds of volunteer hackers have gathered and have started giving a befitting reply to Russia’s information war by form- ing a group of their own. Many experts have start- ed saying that these hack- ers of Ukraine seem to be more effective attackers than any paramilitary un- less, of course, a nuclear threat comes true. But during the informa- tion war, the kind of infor- mationorinformationthat is being repeatedly made public through Ukraine is proving to be false or fake. It is not that Russia, de- spite limited means, is not able to do propaganda against Ukraine. It is also making public many types of informa- tion about Ukraine in a limited range. The kind of information that is being shared again and again about its opponent in this war from both sides, this war has now become “Misinformation War”. Attempts are being made by Russia to destroy the status of Ukraine all over the world. Russia also seems to be trying that through its misinforma- tion, the Ukrainian people and the army there should lose courage. Ukraine, on the other hand, is also con- stantly sharing false infor- mation against Russia to gain the sympathy of the world and keep the morale of its citizens in the war. This is not the first time that misinformation through social media platforms have been spread to gain points dur- ing a battle. We have seen many such examples be- fore. Because most of peo- ple are not interested in knowing the truth of the information that they got. Therefore, the ten- dency of hastily forward- ing has started increas- ing rapidly these days. Due to this, the busi- ness of misinformation has also cemented. The same phenomenon is vis- ible in the war between Russia and Ukraine. In such a situation, as vigi- lant citizen, we have to try to bridge the gap between this information and mis- information being shared on social media platforms. If we can do this, then we will also be able to make this new world of infor- mation better. Otherwise, the war of perception will doom every possibility of peace and harmony left in this world. PANIC BUYING The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine since February 24 is now show- ing effects all over the world. Even though bombs and gunpowder are raining thousands of kilo- meters away from India, the bad effect of war is starting to take place here too. According to reports, after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, people in India have started to panic buy- ing. Especially in the case of edible oil, people are buying and stocking more than necessary . FEAR SPREADING AMONG PEOPLE DUE TO VIRAL FAKE MESSAGES According to a report, peo- ple are afraid that due to this corrosion, there may be a shortage of edible oils. Fake messages going viral on WhatsApp that there may be a shortage of edible oils in the market due to unrest are adding to the panic buying. After re- ceiving the messages. Peo- ple in India have bought as much as 20 litres of edible oil at one go. INDIA’S OVER 90% SUNFLOWER OIL COMES FROM RUSSIA, UKRAINE The price of edible oil in India has increased by more than 20 percent in the last one month. In the midst of such a surge in prices, viral fake mes- sages are promoting pan- ic buying. India depends on imports to a large ex- tent in terms of edible oil. In the case of edible oil, two-thirds of India’s requirements are met by imports. Talking about sunflower oil, India is al- most completely depend- ent on Russia and Ukraine in this matter. More than 90 percent of India’s total sunflower oil import comes from these two countries. THE SUPPLY OF ALL OTHER EDIBLE OILS WON’T BE AN ISSUE Although experts believe that there is no need to panic, because even if there is, there will be a shortage of sunflower oil only. There is no problem in the supply of all other edible oils like palm oil, soya oil, mustard oil, groundnut oil etc. There- fore, there is no need for panic buying. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL W This is not the first time that misinformation through social media platforms have been spread to gain points during a battle. We have seen many such examples before. Because most of people are not interested in knowing the truth of the information that they got. Therefore, the tendency of hastily forwarding has started increasing rapidly these days. Due to this, the business of misinformation has also cemented. The same phenomenon is visible in the war between Russia and Ukraine. In such a situation, as vigilant citizen, we have to try to bridge the gap between this information and misinformation being shared on social media platforms Reports about Ukraine’s digital army have also been in forefront against Russia. Hundreds of volunteer hackers have gathered and have started giving a befitting reply to Russia’s information war by forming a group of their own. Many experts have started saying that these hackers of Ukraine seem to be more effective attackers than any paramilitary unless, of course, a nuclear threat comes true MOHD FAHAD The writer is a Jaipur-based journalist and alumnus of Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia University

After AAP’s massive victory in Pun- jab, party leaders have started saying that the ‘Kejriwal Model of Gov- ernance’ has been cho- sen by the people. Before that, when Narendra Modi came onto the national politi- cal scene to contest the generalelections, hehad shown the Gujarat mod- el to the whole country . ButtheBJPdidnotlabel it as Modi model of gov- ernance, rather it ws termedtheGujaratmod- el. The way the Gujarat model was discussed in public sphere, the same waytheDelhimodelwas being discussed, prior to assembly results. But after the election results, AAP leaders have started calling it the Kejriwal model. Soon after initial trends, DelhiDeputyChief Min- ister Manish Sisodia said it was a victory for “governance on the Ke- jriwal model”. After a while, Raghav Chadha, in-charge of Punjab, re- peated the same line. So, now the name of the Delhi model has been changed to Kejriwal model, which the Aam Aadmi Party will capi- talizeonintheassembly elections in two states - Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh - to be held later thisyear.Children’sedu- cation, women’s earn- ings, ration to the poor and care of everyone’s health are being told to be the merits of this model. The way Nitish Kumar had talked about development with jus- tice in Bihar, even thoughdevelopmenthas not really happened, similarly development with justice is being talked about under the Kejriwal model. What is the Kejriwal model of governance? The two sides agreed to maintain the securi- ty and stability on the ground in the western sector in the interim. This is the first time after more than three decades that a party has returned to pow- er for the second time in a row, and for the first time since independence, that a Chief Minister has won for the second time in a row after completing five years in office. This time the Uttar Pradesh elections were also historic in the sense that for the first time such a face-to-face contest took place and more than 95 per cent of the seats were divided between only two parties. The vote percentage is defi- nitely divided be- tween some parties but only BJP and SP have got seats. While BJP in- creased the vote per- centage compared to the last assembly elections, the vote percentage of SP in- creased by about 15 percent. Till now it had got highest 28 percent votes but this time it got close to 35 percent votes. The Bahujan Samaj Party remained at a respectable level of 13-14 per cent of the vote. But this vote percentage did not work in terms of seats. About 96-97 per cent of the 403 as- sembly seats in the state are divided be- tween the BJP and the SP alliance. Most of the schemes are made for benefit of citizens of the state, but the Uttar Pradesh government has launched many schemes for destitute cattle. The Yogi government had promised to give Rs 30 per day for the care and upkeep of destitute animals. Apart from this, for the protection and maintenance of destitute cows, the state government is running permanent-temporary cow shelters, cow protection centers, animal shelters, etc. Maholi Nagar Panchayat President Sarita Gupta informed that the Yogi government made arrangements for Kanha Upvan for only destitute children, but failed to make arrangements for their maintenance. She further said that since 2020, about Rs 28 lakhs had been spent on destitute cows from the state finances. It may be mentioned that this money of state finance was for the employees of the municipality and for many other development works, but was spent on destitute cows. Gupta accused District Magistrate Vishal Bhardwaj had been informed in writing but no solution had been found so far. —First India Bureau FIVE STAR LUTYENS JOURNALISTS FAIL TO READ WRITINGS ON UP WALL By 12 noon on counting day on March 10, it was clear that Akhilesh Yadav’s noisy campaign to be the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh had been undone by Yogi Adityanath’s quiet but effective governance. The famous ‘Aa Rahein Hain Akhilesh’ (Akhilesh Yadav is Coming) slogan did not translate to reality. Many five-star ‘Lutyens journalists’ had predicted the election in favour of Akhilesh Yadav based on the readings on their Khan market- grown ‘enthusiasm meter’ for the crowds that visited the election rallies. Today, they are searching for an alibi to justify their lazy and wrong predictions. But looks like, at some points, Akhilesh Yadav fell prey to his own propaganda, propaganda that was fuelled by the cover fire of many exaggerated media narratives. When Akhilesh got three ministers of Yogi’s cabinet to quit the BJP and join his party, certain sections of the media went berserk and called it the ultimate masterstroke by Akhilesh Yadav to expand his party’s non- Yadav OBC base. Two of these turncoat ministers, Swami Prasad Maurya and Dharm Singh Saini, lost their own elections, let alone positively affecting other seats for the Samajwadi Party. In fact, all these journalists who were providing cover fire to Akhilesh Yadav did a great disservice to him, by keeping him away from reality. He became a victim of their false propaganda and the counting day shattered his lazy dream of 400 seats. —First India Bureau SHIVPAL MEETS AKHILESH, MAY SIT AS LEADER OF OPPN Poll results were discussed during the meet between the 2 that lasted for about an hour First India Bureau Lucknow: On Satur- day, National President of Progressive Sama- jwadi Party and MLA from Jaswant Nagar Shivpal Singh Yadav met Samajwadi Party national president Akh- ilesh Yadav. The elec- tion results were dis- cussed during the talks between the two that lasted for about an hour. It is believed that Shivpal could be given the responsibility of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. How- ever, the Samajwadi Party has not yet offi- cially confirmed it. SP’s national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that a meeting of MLAs has been called on March 21 wherein discussion on this issue could be held. Shivpal on UP election result said that the atmos- phere was in our favour but there were some shortcomings in the party which would be analyzed and discuss to strengthen the party further. Shivpal is MLA from Jaswantnagar and had won by 90 thousand votes. Shivpal got 1,58,531 votes, while BJP candidate Vivek Shakya got only 68454 votes making Shivpal win by 90077 votes. He got 62.89 percent of the votes. He said that there were some shortcom- ings in the organiza- tion and party workers were overconfident. Apart from this, what- ever tricks BJP had done, his workers had not been able to answer and that the votes of SP supporters were de- ducted from the voter list, due to which party had suffered. He said that the BJP created an atmosphere in its favor by giving free ration to the public and money in their ac- count. He said that they would review the elec- tion result move for- ward. Meanwhile, it is being discussed that SP President Akhilesh may resign from Karhal leading to a possibility of holding by-election. MEET ON MARCH 21 Shivpal Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav —FILE PHOTO BJP’snegativecampaigns woninmisleadingpeople’ First India Bureau Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Friday ad- mitted that her party’s rout in the UP Assem- bly election was a “les- son”. The former chief minister pointed out that it has become clear that the BSP was not “BJP’s B Team” and that negative cam- paigns succeeded in misleading the people of the state. The BSP which formed a full ma- jority government in Uttar Pradesh in 2007 managed to win just one seat this time with a vote share of 12.88 %. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, the BSP chief urged her party workers not to be disheartened but to continue their ef- forts to carry forward the BSP’s movement of coming back to power in the state. “Negative cam- paigns succeeded in misleading... that BSP is BJP’s B-team... while the truth is opposite, BJP vs BSP war was not only political but principled and elector- al as well,” the BSP chief said. The 77-year- old leader said that UP election results were opposite to the expecta- tions of the BSP. PANIC AFTER UP ATS NABS 3 SUSPECTS FROM DEOBAND First India Bureau Saharanpur: Panic triggered in the area af- ter a team of the anti- terrorist squad took 3 suspects into custody from a hostel near Darul Uloom crossing at Mohalla Khankah road. Sources here said that the ATS team raid- ed at Nazmi Manjil hos- tel at Darul Uloom road in the morning time and took 3 suspects into custody from different rooms. It was reported that three suspects had a connection with Bangladesh and resid- ing there illegally. The local police were not informed about the raids and the hotel own- er was also stunned af- ter the incident. ATS team had arrested four Bangladeshi nationals from Deoband a few years back. Official sources claimed that both suspects were re- leased after interroga- tion. Some objectiona- ble documents were found from them fur- ther investigations were underway . Missing SP leader, his wife found murdered for property in Bijnor First India Bureau Bijnor: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and his wife who went missing on February 28, were murdered by a woman and her accom- plices for property and cash. Police sources said that Ruma work- ing in the beauty par- lour of the SP leader’s wife had murdered the couple and buried them in a house. Rajesh Agarwal, SP trader wing secretary and his wife Babli were miss- ing since February 28. The Brother of Babli and some SP workers filed a complaint about the missing couple. During the investiga- tion, the police found the behaviour of Ruma suspicious. Dur- ing interrogation, she confessed to the crime and told police that she murdered the couple and buried them in a house in Hamirpur. She told that her son and two other persons were involved in the crime. UPSRTC issues order to provide seat to Journos in roadways buses First India Bureau Lucknow: On de- mand of UP Working Journalists Union (UPWJU), the Manag- ing Director of the State Road Transport Corporation (UP- SRTC) has issued an order for providing seats to accredited journalists of the state and district traveling in govern- ment buses. In the or- der issued on Friday, Corporation MD RP Singh has stared that operators will provide seats to journalists traveling in buses. TEACHER SUSPENDED FOR MAKING OBJECTIONABLE REMARKS AGAINST PM, CM Prayagraj: An assistant teacher was suspended here for allegedly mak- ing objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officials here said. District Basic Education Officer Praveen Kumar Tiwari has suspended Ajit Yadav of the composite school in the Bahria development block, they said. According to the suspension order issued by Tiwari, Yadav was found actively participating in public relations, public meetings and campaigning of a political party in the re- cently concluded assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Snakecobradidn’tletmongoosewin:Mauryaafterdefeat Lucknow: Livid at his defeat in the recently held UP Assembly elec- tions, former state min- ister Swami Prasad Maurya claimed “nag aur sanp ne milkar newale ko jitne nahi diya (cobra snake joined hands to ensure that mongoose didn’t win)”. Maurya claimed that the mongoose al- ways wins in fights with the snake. He sought to suggest that he was the mongoose and his rivals were snakes in the recently held Assembly polls in which he lost from the Fazilnagar seat. Maurya’s comment was also apparently aimed at the BJP gain- ing from the support of the traditional voters of the BSP in some of the Assembly constituen- cies in the state polls. Maurya had switched allegiance on the poll eve to join the Samajwa- di Party. He was a BJP MLA and a minister in the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet in the state. In 2016, he while being the national general secre- tary of the BSP had joined the BJP in the run-up to the 2017 As- sembly elections in UP . Speaking to ANI to- day, Maurya said, “Mongoose is always superior to a snake. It is a different matter that both the snake and the cobra together did not let the mongoose win.” FIRST TIME IN 37 YEARS PCS Narendra Singh as new Additional Transport Commissioner Lucknow: PCS Narendra Singh has been appointed as new Additional Transport Com- missioner. When the ballot box opened on March 10, the hopes of many parties were also dashed. Even though the BJP stunned its opponents with its trot but many questions still remain unan- swered. As a Congress leader says, “Modi’s vic- tory is friable from within because, before the latest poll results of 5 states, BJP already had 399 seats out of to- tal 690 seats. Now after the results, it is left with 356 seats i.e. 43 seats have been reduced.” But it should also be asked as to what hap- pened to the morale of the Congress in Punjab where it handed over the victory to AAP. How did the call of victory in U’khand turn into an outcry of defeat? Why did the public reject Pri- yanka’s ‘ladki hoon lad sakti hoon’ chant in UP? Therefore, today there is a need for intro- spection not by the BJP but by the Congress, whose many big leaders are still ready to break away. With the opposi- tion flag-waving in 4 of these 5 states, the BJP plans to merge at least 3 parties into its Saffron fold by end of this year. Mayawati is said to be ready for this, who, in this polls transferred 70 to 80 percent of her core vote bank directly to the BJP. Her eyes are on an honorable farewell from politics. Her eyes are on President post but if she does not get it, she may agree on the post of VP . This way she will get rid of all the cases and will be able to live a peaceful constitu- tional life. If this hap- pens, she may be ready to merge her party BSP with BJP. More or less same is the case with Nitish. His first attempt was to become the face of Opp unit at Centre. He again contacted PK in this regard, explored the possibilities for himself, but if the plan does not materialise, then he too may easily surrender to the saf- fron. If he is made the Prez or VP, he may be ready to merge his par- ty JDU with the BJP as JDU’s influence is now limited to Bihar only . HINTS OF BIG CHANGES IN BJP ORGANISATION As per sources, there may be changes in BJP leadership before polls in HP. High com- mand can play bets on Nadda in HP and Dhar- mendra Pradhan’s name is in discussion for BJP Prez in place of Nadda. But if Nadda re- fuses, another face can get chance in HP. As per sources, BJP can play bets on Anurag Thakur. BL Santosh may also be changed from the post of Gen Secy of BJP and NN Tripathi may re- place Santosh. At pre- sent, Tripathi is han- dling the responsibility of Gen secy in Bihar and Jharkhand. On the other hand, this matter is also being considered in the high command as to how much free hand should be given to Yogi in UP and how can there be better coordination between Yogi and Sunil Bansal? Meanwhile, there are talks of chang- ing UP BJP Chief Swa- tantra D Singh as well. ‘ONE NATION, ONE ELECTION’ SPECULATION INTENSIFIES This old idea of ‘One Nation, One Elec- tion’ of PM Modi has started making waves again after the bumper victory of BJP in four states. Modi has been saying in the past that ‘Parliamentary elec- tions and assembly elec- tionsof allstatesshould be held simultaneously, this will save a lot of money for the country .’ PM Modi came up with this idea about four years ago. More than Rs 60,000 crore were spent on 2019 LS polls alone. It is said that ECI also agrees with this opin- ion of PM, but to do so, a consensus will need to be created among other political parties. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MUKESH SAHNI? What will happen to Mukesh Sahni, who repeatedly cursed the BJP? Will BJP give him a dressing down? Mukesh Sahni’s Vi- kassheel Insaan Party i.e. VIP is a popular party among the Mal- lahs-Nishads of Bihar which is currently a part of NDA in Bihar. But despite this, Sahni violated the accepted conventions of NDA and fielded 53 candi- dates from his party in this UP election. Sahni, who took oath of oust- ing BJP from power in UP, forgot this time that he had tasted power in Bihar only because of the BJP. The power of making him MLC again is also in the hands of BJP. It should be noted that Sahni’s VIP party had 4 MLAs in Bihar, out of which one Musa- fir Paswan passed away . There are 3 left who can join BJP anytime, be- cause it was the BJP who made them contest the election with the symbol of VIP. Then what will Mukesh Sah- ni do? To harbour en- mity for someone who gives you shelter? STONE PELTING AND LATHICHARGE IN SIRATHU! On day of counting of votes on March 10, everyone’s eyes were fixed on Sirathu seat in UP where Deputy CM KP Maurya and Dr Pal- lavi Patel of Apna Dal Kameravadi were face to face. All eyes were on this hot seat, then the counting of votes was stopped late in the even- ing and after that Kes- hav and Pallavi sup- porters clashed with each other. Police re- sorted to lathi charge to control the matter. Only then Yogi called offi- cials saying, “There should not be any rig- ging in counting of votes and work should be done honestly”. IS SENA COMING CLOSER TO BJP? Shiv Sena chief and Mah CM Uddhav Thackeray is a bit ill these days. Anyway his real concern is to estab- lish his son Aaditya in politics. It is said that he often talks to the leaders of other parties to keep getting hints. Uddhav’s real concern is actually about stand of NCP , an ally in his govt. Uddhav feels that Sharad Pawar himself is not so com- fortable and open to ac- cept Aaditya. At the sametime, whenhewent to meet Modi last year with his son Aaditya, he found Modi’s attitude to- wards son very positive. Perhaps this is reason why these days Uddhav is once again increasing closeness with BJP . AKHILESH,AZAMMAYRESIGNASMLA First India Bureau Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and senior party leader Mohd Azam Khan are likely to re- tain their Parliament berths and resign from their assembly seats won by them in just con- cluded assembly elec- tions 2022. While Akhilesh, a Member of Parliament from Azamgarh, fought his maiden as- sembly election and won from Karhal as- sembly constituency, is likely to quit this seat, veteran party leader Mohd Azam Khan, is also expected to follow suit. Yadav won from Karhal seat, defeating BJP MP SP Singh Baghel by 67,504 votes. Karhal is in Mainpuri, which is considered a bastion of the SP. In the recently-held elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 255 of 403 seats. The SP, its main rival in a bipolar contest, won 111 seats. Current- ly, lodged in Sitapur jail in connection with a number of cases lodged against him, Azam Khan is an MP from Rampur and won from Rampur (Sadar) assembly constituency defeating his nearest BJP rival Akash Saxe- na by a margin of over 55,000 votes. “Now that we have not won the Uttar Pradesh assembly elec- tions and are not form- ing the government, it’s an obvious step for the party president to quit the Karhal seat and con- tinue in Parliament. It’s not official yet but will be soon. The party will make the announcement in due course of time,” a senior party leader aware of the develop- ment said, seeking an- onymity. YOUR DAY Horoscope by Saurabbh Sachdeva IN THE HEART OF TRAGIC OPTIMISM ur mother’s generation at large are fearful of be- ing in a con- stant happy state be- cause they await the low depths of sorrow that lurk on the other side of their euphor- ic times. And more often than not, they feel guilty for experi- encing joy and being the ‘happy puppy’ in good times. On the other side, someone like me is fiercely independent and passionately sad through the highs and lows that life has to offer! Hence, we hover above the borderline of self – destruction and melodramatic ex- pressions. Well, the truthisthatthereisan interesting duality to life, and this is exhib- itedbyeverythingthat nature has to offer: • Love and hate • Joy and sorrow • Darkness and light • Life and death • Good and evil Some people like to focus on one side over the other and pretend that the other side does not exist. They camouflage their emotions under the garb of being con- tent, gratitude and having no expecta- tions at all…But in reality , they are living in a bubble free from elemental virtues of honesty, candour and acceptance. In my opinion, LIFE is a business and you are the CEO who decides whether this business of liv- ing is going to be easy or difficult. In 1940s, Psychia- trist and psychother- apist Viktor Frankl had developed a con- cept called logothera- py, after surviving Nazi concentration camps. His experi- ence and theories are detailed in his book, “Man’s Search for Meaning.” He be- lieved that humans are motivated by something called a “will to meaning,” He emphasised that life can have meaning even in the most wretched circum- stances and the moti- vation for living comes from finding that meaning. And therefore, I to- tally believe that life weaves a tragic triad of human existence thatcannotbeescaped: Pain, guilt and death. I’m sure you are thinking that this ar- ticle is going too dark now, but trust me that this will open new doors in your thought process. It is obvious- ly tempting to take a pessimist’s view of life and scoff at opti- mism in general. The void that is created by pain and suffering and the loss that can smoothly make us fall into the apparent meaninglessness pit! I propose a solid case for tragic opti- mism in this world, precisely because of our innate ability to find meaning, despite the tragedies that surround us. It re- minds of Milton’s saying, “our minds can make hell out of heaven, or heaven out of hell.” It is our own duty, to not let what hap- pens or what will happen, turn us down the road of the pessi- mist, the fatalist, the defeatist and the doomsday expert. We are innately blessed with atremen- douscapacitytotrans- mute life’s negative aspects into something construc- tive — to make the best out of any g i v e n circum- s t a n c e . F r a n k l witnessed itintheconcentration camps, exemplified in those who held on to their humanity / dignity and showed virtue even in the heart of darkness. Even during those darkest of times, he preached, “Say yes to life in spite of eve- rything.” WE ALL SEE IT, DON’T WE? • In someone who still makes a point of smil- ing, laughing and jok- ing…even when they’ve been given a morbid diagnosis. • In those who use their suffering as a fuel for their creativi- ty, or an opportunity to grow stronger and exercise resilience. • In the one’s who take immense responsibil- ity and grab life by the horns, no matter how many times they fail. • In the spouses who find more than just sor- row in the ab- sence of his part- ner . Life is indeed full of surprises…good, bad, sweet, bitter and we can choose to face life with an attitude that is steadfast to make the best of its pleasures and its pain alike. The word ‘opti- mism’ has been de- rived from the Latin word ‘optimum’ that simply means “the best”. Life will cer- tainly throw some- thing at you, so bear it with an attitude that makes you stronger, rather than weaker. • Don’t let your suffer- ing go waste, turn them into stories of success and resilience. • If you have experi- enced guilt, use it to grow and change into a better person. • Reflect upon a deep understanding for the fleetingness of life, spur yourself to take responsibility and meaningful action. Remember, Life is a precious gift and the world is increasingly getting full of pessi- mists…It could sure- ly do with a few more optimists! O DR. Apart from in- spiring people regarding their daily skin care routine through creating con- tent on her Instagram profile, she enjoys shopping and reading. Un- like a regular Insta- gram beauty channel, her videos come from the exciting thought process and deliver best of beauty tips for g l o w i n g and flaw- l e s s skin. She creates mag- ic on internet for around 11,000 of her followers on Insta- gram. City First took an exclusive interview with the distinctive star to find out how she made it happen. What do you like most about working as a beauty influ- encer? What I really like most about working as a beauty influencer is that it makes me more confident about my- self. The kind of confi- dence I get after being recognised as a beauty influencer cannot be matched. It builds my personality in a better way .Itdefinitelymakes me a better person. What is the most dif- ficult part of work- ing as a beauty in- fluencer and how do you handle it? The most difficult part of working as a beauty influencer is that the product should not harm my clients. Therefore, I use the product before I recommend it to my clients. It becomes my responsibility to first try that product. At times I have to try mul- tiple products simulta- neously which some- times affects my skin. What do you think is the most challeng- ing beauty therapy process? I feel that any beau- ty therapy process re- lated to skin is highly challenging. Different skin types play a vital role in it. It is mainly because of the ingredi- ents that are used in the product given to the uncertainty of how the skin will react to them. Have you ever had a problem with a cli- ent’s skin reacting to your products? No, I have been fortu- nate enough to claim that ever since I have been in this field, I have not yet come across any such complaints from my clients. What motivates you? My motivation is that through me young girls can understand how important it is to love yourself, your skin and your body. I think that brings to my face everyday . BEAUTY THAT CUTS A DASH! Bring out your inner beauty and blossom into your new self. Aastha Rathore, in conversation with City First, speaks about her life as a beauty influencer.
