Using RAL10AP to measure the radio emission of the Galaxy in the band [1390-1440] MHz (By RadioAstroLab).
Using RAL10AP to measure the radio emission of the Galaxy in the band [1390-1440]
MHz.
A radio telescope based on radiometer RAL10AP allows you to measure the radio
emission of the galaxy at 1415 MHz (with a theoretical bandwidth of 50 MHz). The
radiation includes the continuous component and the contribution of neutral hydrogen
to 1420.406 MHz, which falls into the "receive window" of the radio telescope.
The measurement was carried out by orienting the antenna to the zenith (galactic
longitude of about 45 degrees): this test will follow a series of scans, performed in
various galactic longitudes, to produce a map of the radio sky at 1415 MHz that displays
the Milky Way.
