Rationale:
I’ve chosen to do a film poster because of its significance in the film Industry. Without the
use of advertising films would be less popular and the industry as a whole wouldn’t be able
to survive. The posters used allow the person viewing it to grasp an overview and almost a
teaser to what the film would be like. I’d like to make one of these posters as a test of my
ability on photoshop to create pieces like this and to as higher quality as professionals.
Project Concept:
The concept for my project is an assassins story named The Assassin. The story Is based around
an elusive bounty hunter travelling the world and making a living by collecting bounties from
assassinating high valued targets. On this occasion she is sent to assassinate the mayor of
Shanghai and has been given info on where and when to do it. She is rivalled by another assassin
and must fight her way up to the vantage spot in the tower. I will need at least 3 actors/actresses in
order to create the poster. I plan on using similar effects to that of other thriller and action posters
where all the characters are surrounding the main character in the centre. The font I plan on using
will use sharp edges and bright colours to support the scenery and overall aesthetic of the modern,
action filled story. The idea of there being a large building in the centre of the poster with each
character fading in from the side of the poster is my main idea. The text would be in the centre but
slightly above the characters heads and actor credits and age ratings would be at the bottom of the
poster as they are of least importance.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
My evaluation will be a mixture or peer and personal. The personal side of my analysation I will be
mostly comparing my work to pre-existing pieces that are already out there. Not only this but I will
make sure that the necessary pieces of information are on there. E.g., age ratings, cast etc. Peer
assessment will make sure that, while doing different projects, they are similar in concept and have
the compulsory information. This project will help me in my course due to the experience on
photoshop and other forms of software which in turn will give me more experience in the creation
of real life projects.
