Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Learning
• Learners and facilitators gain in group cohesion, knowledge, and
problem solving skills as they interact with one another.
• Encourages a safe learning environment because everyone learn
among equals
• Promotes higher retention among learners who gain knowledge
through activities rather than complex textual information
• P2P can complement traditional forms of learning
• P2P training can accommodate flexible schedules.
5. 5
A P2P Facilitator is…
✓An employee who is
appointed to act as a
facilitator
✓Helps participants go
through the training as a
group
✓A facilitator supports
group discussions so
that everyone
participates equally
A P2P Facilitator is NOT…
Ꭓ Not expected to make
decisions for the group
Ꭓ Not expected to know
or explain the content
Ꭓ Not solely responsible
for success of the
training
REMEMBER…
6. “Peer learning can create a rich learning environment
in which everyone simultaneously teaches and
learns, acts and observes, speaks and listens.

12. Instructions:
1) Read aloud the situation below.
Ana was asked to peer facilitate for an online In-Business Soft Skills Module. It had been a busy
week for Ana so she assumed that IT had sent the email invites and prepared all the necessary
links for her online facilitation.
However, things did not work well as expected. Turned out, some of the learners did not receive
their email invites nor the modules for discussion. Ana was able to push thru with the
facilitation after she sought the help of the IT team. Given all the delays, Ana decided to skip the
introductions and ground rules.
Most of the participants were shy and quiet. Ana had to call on them to share but they also gave
limited answers. Dina and Marie, the more senior workers in the team, tend to dominate the
discussions. The discussion led to a heated debate and the other participants were getting
frustrated and uncomfortable. Ana stepped in to stop the debate by asking Dina and Marie to
park their issue. (Note: it turned out that they had a similar argument in a previous department
meeting). The team was barely able to complete all the activities within the designated time.
