How to run a great social media
campaign for your next event
Running a campaign
Managing social channels during an event is often a
role that requires a bit more understanding by both
clients and event professionals. It’s not just about
popping up a few pretty pics.
To make full use of your social channels, and to
enhance your audience engagements, you will need
to proactively plan out your comms before the
event.
Creative concept
Work with your team to come up with the
campaign approach. Everyone will need to be on
board and fully briefed so you can put forward a
cohesive campaign.
Set the tone for imagery, relevant hashtags,
location pins and tone of voice.
Define roles
Distribute the workload across the team and
ensure everyone is clear on their role.
You want a seamless set of messages and also to
ensure no opportunity is missed. There needs to
always be someone dedicated to each social
channel before, during and after the event.
Authenticity
Add your own flavour to the event. If it’s
appropriate you can use humor and behind the
scenes shots.
Social audiences like to see the real people
behind the brands and get exclusive
information.
Monitoring
It’s one thing to have team members dedicated
to a role, it’s another to ensure they are
monitoring the activity.
If followers are asking questions, they will need
to be responded to. If there’s inappropriate
activity it will need to be removed. There must
always be someone keeping an eye out.
Influencers
Extend the reach of your event by partnering
with influencers. If you connect with the right
people you can bolster your social media
engagement and following by association.
