1. FRANK SAWINSKY – Process Oriented, Analytical, Strategic Focus, Action-oriented, Implementation,
Decision-Making
Frank is passionate about using data to either effect transformational or incremental change throughout the supply
chain in order to enhance all stakeholder positions. Looking for a senior leadership role within the supply chain
discipline – ie . Sourcing, Distribution, Operations.
Frank has worked in every aspect of the supply chain, starting his career in purchasing. Throughout the years he
has worked in strategic sourcing, materials management, managed demand planning, production planning,
managed manufacturing and multiple DC facilities. The breadth of the industries covered ranges from Consumer
Goods, retail, plumbing, wholesale, manufacturing, food production and a highly regulated scientific lab
environment.
Some of the accomplishments include:
Developed and implemented a logistics strategy that was instrumental in reducing costs 10% within our four (4)
N. American DC model at Foremost and enhancing the focus on Health & Safety. At Epicure small parcel freight
was reduced by ~ $1M. At Walmart e-Commerce I played a key role in obtaining the research data, obtaining
the approvals and implementing solutions that saved WM ~5% ($13M) in freight in 2015.
Adept at GAP analysis, building optimization models and using Monte Carlo simulation in demand analysis
models. Used Monte Carlo successfully to handle NP launches at Epicure. At Tyco I was a joint recipient in an
award received for developing a forecast model for a billion dollar business unit.
Within an “each” pick e-Commerce environment using LEAN methodologies and automation technology my
team was able to improve pick/pack efficiency by ~ 150% in a facility that handled ~ 3000 orders per day.
2. At Exova as Director of North American procurement, I built the team and effectively created the Corporate
Procurement/Sourcing group. The team handled direct/indirect purchases for the North American organization
- Software, IT, telephony, leases, office equipment, travel, and really added value through these engagements.
Inside of two years my team had reduced the Cost of Goods by 4%, as verified by the CFO.
At SnapOn, I used LEAN principles to completely rethink a manufacturing strategy. We were so successful that
the concepts were adopted by HO in US. We were able to reduce lead-times from 8wks ->3wks. Inventory was
reduced ~ 30 % and we also enjoyed a hard cost savings of $700K.
Initiated the implementation of a Sales & Operations process to effectively manage our vitreous china line that
was sold to a big Box retailer throughout North America. This process alone started to eliminate waste
throughout the whole value-added chain for all the stakeholders. The process allowed the commodity to be run
on one set of numbers - single source of truth - through the value chain. Customer service improved and
inventory levels were dramatically reduced.
Managed multi-site full scale effective ERP implementations - Oracle, JDE, Dynamics, and Navision. Also
managed a warehouse management system implementation at Walmart within our 300,000 sqft Calgary
ecomm DC.
Frank received his BA in Economics from U of Toronto and his MBA from U of Edinburgh, Herriot Watt in 2002. In
addition, he has also completed the Certified Professional Purchaser program through SCM, Professional Logistics
designation, and two designations from APICS – CPIM and CIRM. He is currently competing is PMP designation.
Frank strongly believes in continual learning and the benefits of staying fit. Outside of work Frank enjoys the
outdoors and his other passion road cycling. On the weekends he can be found on either a club ride, an organized
Gran Fondo, or riding the Velodrome. His other interests include playing acoustic guitar, reading an inspirational
novel, hiking and seeking that elusive perfect photo.
Frank is a Supply Chain professional, with a deep understanding of the value creation process, process
reengineering, and project management. In addition he also brings wisdom, an ability to effectively communicate
up /down an organization, and the leadership skills necessary to motivate and inspire an extended team.
Sincerely,
Frank Sawinsky
