known prior police contact. 84% of these
cases had no current order of protection.
 Police responded to 263,207 domestic
violence incidents in 2012; this averages
to over 720 incidents per day.
 In 2012, the City’s Domestic Violence
Hotline advocates answered 108,131
calls, averaging more than 290 calls per
day.

Survivors
New York City Family Justice Centers
There are 4 Family Justice Centers in NYC. They provide
criminal justice, civil legal, and social services all in one
location for survivors of domestic violence and sex
trafficking. Since 2005, the FJCs have assisted more than
97,000 clients in their own language.
