Slide Title: Windows 7 Deployment EnhancementsKeywords: Windows 7, Deployment, DISM, WDS, USMT, MAP, ACT, MDTKey Message: A look at Windows 7 deployment enhancements and improvementsSlide Builds: 3Slide Script: When we looked at deployment for Windows 7, we considered the whole spectrum—from imaging to how those images are delivered and on into the migration of user data. So in all of these areas, we’ve made great strides in terms of making the processes easier and faster to implement. Many businesses manage a large amount of operating system images that can cost a significant amount of money to maintain and update. With Windows 7, you can use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management, or DISM, tool to service images that can be deployed anywhere you wish. We’ll talk more about DISM in a moment.[BUILD1] Windows Deployment Services has been improved as well, allowing multiple stream transfers, dynamic driver provisioning, and support for both WIM and VHD files. We’ll explore this more in this session, as well.[BUILD2] The User State Migration Tool, or USMT, allows you to move user profiles from one computer or operating system to another. USMT hardlinks can facilitate the migration in upgrade scenarios. In the past, you would move these files into a protected location, wipe the operating system, and then move the files back into their final locations. With hardlinks, you don’t need to move anything. USMT indexes the user files and registries, wipes the operating system around them, and then, when you install the new operating system, USMT maps the unmoved files and registries into the new operating system.[BUILD3] Our integrated solutions allow you to assess your hardware using the Microsoft Assessment and Planning solution, or MAP; analyze your application compatibility with the Application Compatibility Toolkit, or ACT; and deploy operating systems with a lot of automation and task sequencing technology with the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, or MDT.Slide Transition: So, what is DISM?Additional Information: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=e263796c-c7e4-44d6-96dd-32e821c88a25&displayLang=enhttps://partner.microsoft.com/40092904
