OUR
VISION
Mobile technologies can also help airlines reduce
costs, improve efficiency, and increase safety and
compliance. Crew, flight ops, engineering and ground
ops make smarter, safer decisions by having the right
information at their fingertips on mobile devices. In
the cockpit, EFB brings huge savings by reducing fuel
consumption and turnaround times, and improving
operational efficiency.
In the cabin and on the ground, connected apps
increase operational efficiency by replacing slow and
error-prone paper-based processes. Connecting staff
across the airlines improves passenger experience by
helping to recover service issues before they escalate.
As passenger expectations increase, mobile
devices are evolving too fast for traditional aviation
technology to keep pace. The airlines that win
will be those that can develop the technical,
operational, and commercial flexibility to seize these
new opportunities.
Mobile commerce is growing at 40% year on year. In a
few short years, the vast majority of transactions and
time online will be from mobile devices. This presents
extraordinary opportunities for airlines. Few other
industries have the customer insight, loyalty and
trust that airlines have earned. No other industry has
comparable uninterrupted time with their customers
while delivering service.
The smartest airlines understand that mobile apps
will extend engagement with customers far beyond
the in-flight experience. Passengers will install airline
mobile apps to access entertainment and information
services onboard. When thoughtfully designed,
passengers will use those mobile apps as a trusted
source of travel-related products and services after
the flight and on future journeys.
Relevant offers presented at the right time are
a valuable service for the passenger, and an
opportunity for the airline to capture a portion of all
spend over the entire trip, opening repeat revenue
streams and deeper brand engagement.
Arconics believes that an integrated mobile strategy
will separate the best from the rest over the coming
five years. We are determined to give our customers
the unified, open enterprise platform for mobile apps
that they will need to succeed.
Air transport is evolving. Rapid changes in consumer
behaviour and mobile technologies will change how
airlines serve and compete.

including incident, voyage or
Captain Special Reports.
When pilots have the right information at the right
time, they make smarter and safer decisions. When
flight ops, engineering and ground ops know what’s
happening to the aircraft in real-time, they can
respond quickly and reduce operational costs.
EFB applications have evolved rapidly in recent
years. Low-cost tablets have made EFB technology
accessible to all airlines, but current EFB solutions
typically require multiple standalone applications
which must be managed and updated separately.
Because standalone apps cannot share data, flight
crew are forced to toggle between applications
and re-key data between apps, which takes time,
reduces focus and introduces errors.
AeroDocs is an integrated suite of EFB apps that
provide completely centralised management,
end-to-end security, sharing of data across modules,
and rapid access to the right information for flight
crew and ground staff. AeroDocs supports leaner,
more efficient airline operations, greater real-
time situational awareness and better long-term
business intelligence.
AeroDocs runs on web, iOS, and Windows devices
and can publish to Class 1, 2 and 3 EFBs. AeroDocs
provides advanced and secure ‘information
anywhere’ capabilities. AeroDocs mobile apps work
completely offline to allow access to all documents
and functions in-flight. Information is stored securely
on the device, and synchronised with ground servers
over any available network connection, including
satcoms, wifi or 3G/4G. Early access to flight plans,
and ability to complete forms and reporting in-flight,
increases efficiency and reduces duty times.
Compliance management is woven throughout
AeroDocs. Everything can be securely targeted
to individuals or groups, so staff only get the
information they need. Flight ops receives up-
to-the-minute acknowledgements, read and
sign notifications, and completed crew reports.
Everything is tracked real-time, and the system
has comprehensive compliance reporting on
everything from document revisions to workflows
and acknowledgements. The result is that senior
executives save hundreds of hours during every
audit cycle.

AeroDocs DMS
Nextgen airline document management,
marking a technology shift in compliance,
collaboration and usability
Airline document management is a formidable
challenge, with complex interrelated documents,
specialised revision and approval cycles and a
rapidly-changing regulatory environment. The
fastest-growing aircraft operators understand the
strategic importance of being able to quickly and
consistently roll out new procedures across cultures
and continents.
XML offers significant benefits to this process. For
crew, it promises a step change in functionality,
with better search, faster access to data, persistent
highlights and annotations, and faster downloads.
For authors and document owners, XML technology
can speed editing by automating routine tasks and
allowing smart sharing and reuse of data across
documents. The entire enterprise benefits from
higher levels of consistency, quality and compliance.
Until now, realising these gains has required the use
of arcane XML publishing tools which can be used only
by technical publications experts, and which require
extensive customisation to deliver any business benefit.
Complex deployments, extensive user training and high
project risk have been taken for granted.
Imagine a system that was designed from the ground
up for managing aircraft and airline documents.
That’s AeroDocs DMS.
AeroDocs DMS delivers regulatory compliance with
simple, web-based, collaborative authoring of XML
documents. Secure document storage, access
control, audited distribution and smart sharing, and
reuse of data across the airline come simply. The
platform gives all users - airline operations, external
partners and regulators - access to documents with
fast search facilities and offline viewing capabilities.
Airline administrators get real-time visibility and
control of the distribution process, ensuring that all
devices are updated and that all staff have access
to the current document versions. AeroDocs maps
your documents to regulations to ensure regulatory
compliance, minimise the operational overhead, and
assure accuracy and consistency of information
across all systems.

PaxApp
Integrated Cabin Management app
to improve passenger service and
report issues
The advent of low-cost mobile platforms creates an
opportunity for airlines to transform in-flight service
and make cabin operations and related maintenance
more efficient. Cabin crew are the primary touchpoint
between airlines and passengers. Their ability to
deliver personalised and better service can create
extraordinary moments for passengers, resulting in
long-term loyalty.
PaxApp gives cabin crew access to all of the
information they need to serve passengers better,
and provide timely information to any of the airline’s
existing ground systems. Flight attendants can
use PaxApp to instantly search, view manifests,
passenger profiles, meal preferences, special
requirements and loyalty status. When delays or other
service incidents inevitably occur, PaxApp gives crew
the tools and information that they need to recover
the situation quickly, and deliver exceptional service.
PaxApp can run on iOS and Windows devices. PaxApp
mobile apps can work on a connected aircraft or work
completely offline. Cabin crew can still access all of
the modules and functions in-flight. Information is
stored securely on the device and synchronised with
ground servers over any available network connection,
including satcoms, wifi or 3G/4G.
PaxApp uses an elegant and intuitive interface to
visually represent all information, reducing training
requirements, and speeding service delivery.
Information is captured electronically, replacing
labour-intensive, time consuming and error-prone
paper-based systems with flexible electronic reporting
and workflows. Flight ops, engineering and ground
ops get the information they need faster, reducing the
likelihood of delays on turnarounds.
Everything is tracked real-time and permanently
archived, where it can be mined for operational
insight and business intelligence.

Our enterprise bus and platform APIs allow for
both synchronous integration and asynchronous
messaging. They can be horizontally scaled to handle
increase in traffic loads. They are technology-agnostic,
so adaptors and platform components can be written
using the best tools for the job.
We’re ahead of the curve in adopting the best
software engineering practices. We develop software
using a scaled agile approach. Cross-functional
feature teams are responsible for end-to-end delivery
of user stories. We use continuous integration,
continuous deployment and automated testing to
find, fix and prevent regressions fast, and allow our
customers access to our latest software as soon as
it’s developed.
Our mobile, tablet, web and desktop clients are
built on top of our public facing RESTful APIs.
We userefresh-token based authentication and
authorisation mechanisms allowing fine-grained
security constraints on all APIs.
Our customers can access our API documentation
and SDKs to enable them to integrate with, and
develop, their own applications on top of our
platform. We provide a backwards compatibility
statement around all released APIs to ensure
clients will continue to work for all future upgrades
of the platform. The result is better software, faster
deployment, data sharing across the airline and
increased business agility for our customers.Aircraft operators have struggled for decades with
inflexible line-of-business systems that make data
sharing, integration and reporting complex and
expensive. Today, legacy systems and architectures
limit operators’ ability to deliver vital operational
savings and new revenue streams from mobile devices.
Arconics understands the complexities of airline
operations and integration. Working to standards
including DO178c and AS9100, we’re continually
evolving our engineering stack to keep pace with the
best available tools and technologies to support the
rigorous security and compliance requirements of our
airline customers. We’ve developed a suite of
re-usable adaptors to communicate with a wide variety
of airline systems. These adaptors communicate with
the Arconics enterprise bus and platform APIs. This
approach allows us to rapidly develop and iterate new
adaptors without affecting the core platform.
Reusable Adaptors are deployed to relay information between the Arconics Platform and Airline / External Systems

  • 4. @ OUR VISION Mobile technologies can also help airlines reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase safety and compliance. Crew, flight ops, engineering and ground ops make smarter, safer decisions by having the right information at their fingertips on mobile devices. In the cockpit, EFB brings huge savings by reducing fuel consumption and turnaround times, and improving operational efficiency. In the cabin and on the ground, connected apps increase operational efficiency by replacing slow and error-prone paper-based processes. Connecting staff across the airlines improves passenger experience by helping to recover service issues before they escalate. As passenger expectations increase, mobile devices are evolving too fast for traditional aviation technology to keep pace. The airlines that win will be those that can develop the technical, operational, and commercial flexibility to seize these new opportunities. Mobile commerce is growing at 40% year on year. In a few short years, the vast majority of transactions and time online will be from mobile devices. This presents extraordinary opportunities for airlines. Few other industries have the customer insight, loyalty and trust that airlines have earned. No other industry has comparable uninterrupted time with their customers while delivering service. The smartest airlines understand that mobile apps will extend engagement with customers far beyond the in-flight experience. Passengers will install airline mobile apps to access entertainment and information services onboard. When thoughtfully designed, passengers will use those mobile apps as a trusted source of travel-related products and services after the flight and on future journeys. Relevant offers presented at the right time are a valuable service for the passenger, and an opportunity for the airline to capture a portion of all spend over the entire trip, opening repeat revenue streams and deeper brand engagement. Arconics believes that an integrated mobile strategy will separate the best from the rest over the coming five years. We are determined to give our customers the unified, open enterprise platform for mobile apps that they will need to succeed. Air transport is evolving. Rapid changes in consumer behaviour and mobile technologies will change how airlines serve and compete. 76

  • 6. Modules AeroDocs EFB Unified EFB and mobile data management DIGITAL LIBRARY The market-leading viewer app, with sophisticated search, per-tail effectivity and annotation functionality. Supports Boeing and Airbus manuals as well as operator manuals in XML and PDF format. e-techlog Techlog and voyage reporting, with two way communication with engineering and maintenance systems. ELECTRONIC Flight Folder Automated assembly and distribution of Electronic Flight Folders, generated from flight planning, roster and other enterprise systems and external weather and NOTAMs fees. READ & SIGN Crew can easily view the latest operational, regulatory and safety notifications and return read and sign confirmations to the ground server via connected aircraft or upon landing. Crew Report Allows forms and reports to be configured and distributed to flight crew. Supports a range of reports including incident, voyage or Captain Special Reports. When pilots have the right information at the right time, they make smarter and safer decisions. When flight ops, engineering and ground ops know what’s happening to the aircraft in real-time, they can respond quickly and reduce operational costs. EFB applications have evolved rapidly in recent years. Low-cost tablets have made EFB technology accessible to all airlines, but current EFB solutions typically require multiple standalone applications which must be managed and updated separately. Because standalone apps cannot share data, flight crew are forced to toggle between applications and re-key data between apps, which takes time, reduces focus and introduces errors. AeroDocs is an integrated suite of EFB apps that provide completely centralised management, end-to-end security, sharing of data across modules, and rapid access to the right information for flight crew and ground staff. AeroDocs supports leaner, more efficient airline operations, greater real- time situational awareness and better long-term business intelligence. AeroDocs runs on web, iOS, and Windows devices and can publish to Class 1, 2 and 3 EFBs. AeroDocs provides advanced and secure ‘information anywhere’ capabilities. AeroDocs mobile apps work completely offline to allow access to all documents and functions in-flight. Information is stored securely on the device, and synchronised with ground servers over any available network connection, including satcoms, wifi or 3G/4G. Early access to flight plans, and ability to complete forms and reporting in-flight, increases efficiency and reduces duty times. Compliance management is woven throughout AeroDocs. Everything can be securely targeted to individuals or groups, so staff only get the information they need. Flight ops receives up- to-the-minute acknowledgements, read and sign notifications, and completed crew reports. Everything is tracked real-time, and the system has comprehensive compliance reporting on everything from document revisions to workflows and acknowledgements. The result is that senior executives save hundreds of hours during every audit cycle. 10
  • 7. AeroDocs DMS Nextgen airline document management, marking a technology shift in compliance, collaboration and usability Airline document management is a formidable challenge, with complex interrelated documents, specialised revision and approval cycles and a rapidly-changing regulatory environment. The fastest-growing aircraft operators understand the strategic importance of being able to quickly and consistently roll out new procedures across cultures and continents. XML offers significant benefits to this process. For crew, it promises a step change in functionality, with better search, faster access to data, persistent highlights and annotations, and faster downloads. For authors and document owners, XML technology can speed editing by automating routine tasks and allowing smart sharing and reuse of data across documents. The entire enterprise benefits from higher levels of consistency, quality and compliance. Until now, realising these gains has required the use of arcane XML publishing tools which can be used only by technical publications experts, and which require extensive customisation to deliver any business benefit. Complex deployments, extensive user training and high project risk have been taken for granted. Imagine a system that was designed from the ground up for managing aircraft and airline documents. That’s AeroDocs DMS. AeroDocs DMS delivers regulatory compliance with simple, web-based, collaborative authoring of XML documents. Secure document storage, access control, audited distribution and smart sharing, and reuse of data across the airline come simply. The platform gives all users - airline operations, external partners and regulators - access to documents with fast search facilities and offline viewing capabilities. Airline administrators get real-time visibility and control of the distribution process, ensuring that all devices are updated and that all staff have access to the current document versions. AeroDocs maps your documents to regulations to ensure regulatory compliance, minimise the operational overhead, and assure accuracy and consistency of information across all systems. AeroDocs Author Fully web-based, AeroDocs Author allows staff with minimal training to create next generation XML documents. AeroDocs Distributor Smart distribution tool that delivers incremental updates, tracks receipt and ensures that every mobile device and class 1, 2 and 3 EFB is up to date.
