Gary Marinelli is the strategic sourcing supplier quality
manager for Raytheon Company’s Integrated Defense
Systems (IDS) business. Raytheon Company, with
2014 sales of $23 billion and 61,000 employees
worldwide, is a technology and innovation leader
specializing in defense,security and civil markets
throughout the world. Raytheon is headquartered in
Waltham, Mass.
Headquartered in Tewksbury, Mass.,IDS has 28
locations around the world. Its broad portfolio of
weapons,sensors and integration systems supports its
customer base across multiple mission areas including
air and missile defense systems; missile defense
radars; early warning radars; naval ship operating
systems; command, control, communications,

In this role, Marinelli is responsible for the supplier
quality infrastructure and processes associated with
selecting, measuring and managing the supply base.
This includes oversight over the supplier selection
process,supplier performance ratings and supplier
assessments.Gary is also responsible for supplier
quality process compliance, organizational metrics and
tools. He has been a key member of the development
of the Raytheon Supplier Excellence Program.
Since joining Raytheon, Marinelli has held positions
of increasing responsibility. He was a graduate of the
Raytheon Quality Talent Development Program
(QTDP), a leadership development program that
includes three different rotations over the course of
a two year timeframe. The QTDP focuses on
business acumen, knowledge transfer, leadership
development and driving results to the business
through completion of business levelprojects. He
has held previous roles in Material Verification and
Test, Software Quality, the Cost of Quality
Command Center and Information Technology.
Prior to his current assignment,Marinelli was the front
end supplier quality manager responsible for leading a
team focused on quality requirements flow down to
the IDS supply base. Marinelli drove implementation
of a minimum set of quality requirements in the IDS
supply base including Quality Management System
certification. He also started the quality intern/co-op
program as a talent pipeline feeder; to date the
program has brought over 20 interns/co-ops into the
organization.
Marinelli is a qualified Raytheon Six Sigma™
Specialist, a certified quality engineer (CQE) from the
American Society for Quality (ASQ) and an ASQ
certified quality improvement associate (CQIA). In
addition, he has a Lean Manufacturing Knowledge
certification from the Society of Manufacturing
Engineers (SME).
Marinelli holds a master’s in engineering management
from Tufts University in Medford, Mass.He earned
his bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University in
Boston,Mass.
