Rappid Valves (India) Private Limited Company, formerly
known as “Jayflow Industries” was established in 1981. Rappid
Valves derives its strengths from the entrepreneurial spirit of
the Rappid Group, founded by Shri Vijay Dalal in 1978, whose
success can be attributed to 35 years of experience in the
industry where he has nurtured a policy to provide quality
above all else and the dynamism to adapt to the ever changing

6. Typical Bolted Bonnet Gate Valve Structure
■ Body:
Body is cast to provide liberal strength to meet operating conditions and to permit unobstructed flow. Turbulence, erosion and
pressure drop are minimized. All flanged and butt welding end valves are designed to confirm to CLASS B 16.5 and CLASS B16.34
standards.
■ Yoke & bonnet:
Some designs incorporate a two piece bonnet and yoke for NPS > 10”. All bonnet assemblies are cast and finished to the same
exacting to lerances as the bodies for accurate alignment of stems and ease of sealing. Bonnet joint varies from flat face gasket-
joint to ring type bonnet joint, depending on class.
■ Seat rings:
Seat rings are seal welded to eliminate leak path behind rings and for long trouble free service. The surfaces are precision
ground to fit accurately with the disc.
■ Disc:
Rappid's one piece flexible disc provides accurate alignment of mating seating surfaces so the valve can absorb piping strains
without leakage. Also, it avoids any tendency to stick in the seated position. Valves are also furnished with solid wedge discs
that have proved successful in millions of applications.
■ Stem:
The tee head disc stem connection prevents lateral strain on the stem for smooth, easy operation. Accurately cut threads
engage the yoke sleeve for positive control of disc position.

■ Packing:
Packing contains corrosion inhibitor to avoid stem pitting. Stuffing box is deep, assuring long packing life.
■ Gland:
Gland is a two piece ball type which exerts even pressure on the packing without binding the stem.

10. Rappid valves are available with an option of flexible wedges and solid wedges to meet customer requirements.
Flexible Wedge Characteristics
• Provides resistance to possible wedge/seat sticking from high temperature to low temperature fluctuations by compensating
for the resulting small body/seat movement.
• Facilitates seating and sealing and assures a long wear life.
• Susceptible to build up when used with fluids having a high solid content.
Solid Wedge Characteristics
• More susceptible to wedge/seat “sticking” and difficulty in opening when closed hot and allowed to cool due to the resulting
small body/seat movement.
• Less able to compensate for the normal wedge/seat wear over the long term.
• Will handle fluids with a high solid content without difficulty.

Impactor, Hadwheel, the mechanism is based on
transmitted the momentum generated but the mass of the
handwheel through the impact/impulse generated during
the snap closure action of the handwheel. This type of
handwheel is used when a standard handwheel cannot
create enough closing force to effect a seal.

31. Butterfly Valves
DESIGN FEATURES
- Seat liner extending on to the contact faces ensures perfect sealing and
eliminates the use of flange gaskets.
- Unique triple sealing system for shaft sealing and prevents external
substances from entering the stem bore.
- The thin profile, spherically machined hand polished disc provides a very
high Cv and greater pressure recovery plus superior abrasion and erosion
resistance in slurry or dry media applications.
- A fully universal body design ensures fitment of the valve between
companion flanges of all popular standards (viz : ANZI, BS, DIN, JIS, IS etc.)
- A ten position notch plate and hand lever ensures locking of the valve in
8 intermediate position and prevent over rotation of the valve. Hand lever
lockable through pad lock kit, allows the customer to lock the valve in the
full open or closed position, tamper proofing the valve. By drilling a new
hole in the top plate, the handle can be locked in mid travel.
- To ensure additional strength, body casting is made out of superior FG 260
grade cast iron.
- Vlave disc made if dyctue case iron instead of cast iron to withstand against
possible water hammer or pressure surges.
- Shafts made of martensitic stainless steel to ensure maximum strength
torsional rigidity.

Design Features of API 6D Ball Valves
34. Rappid standard ball valves have been designed to API's highest standards.
Complete Split body Fully welded design offers maximum protection
against line pressure and thermal distortion with long life and trouble-free
performance.
Rappid is supplying its products to the Crude oil transport and processing,
Power engineering, Water supply systems and Process Industries throughout
the world.
Seal Feature
Rappid ball valves are produced with spring-loaded seats. This spring load
keeps the seat in contact with the ball even in absence of line pressure and
makes very efficient seal at low line pressure.As line pressure increases,
the seat area creates a piston effect which forces the seat against the ball,
therefore a tight seal becomes effective. If the pressure is higher, the force
exerted by the seat on the ball is increased by action of the pipeline pressure.
Therefore, the higher the line pressure, the greater the piston action.Seats are
available in PTFE, R-PTFE, NYLON or others upon request.
Self lubrication
Self lubrication, low friction PTFE is used for stem bearings, stem seals, and
body seats. NYLON or other low friction materials are used for seat inserts. Self
lubricating seals and stem bearing give predictable operating torque for the
life of the valve.
Fire Safe Construction with Secondary Metal Seat
Rappid ball valves have been fire tested and can be supplied to API 6FA and
API 607. The soft seat inserts, irrespective of their materials, will possibly fail
when subjected to sudden high temperature conditions. Rappid provides a
fire-safe design which may substantially prevent leakages through seals when
damaged by high temperature. The function of the seats before and after
the fire test is shown on the sketches. If the seat inserts are destroyed or
burned out, a metal to metal seal is formed between the lower diameter of
the seat and ball, while the seat to body seals, the stem packing and the end
connections to body seals are designed to resist high temperature and will
remain undamaged (Figures 1 2)
Trunnion Mounting
Trunnion mounted stems absorb the thrust from line pressure, preventing
excess friction between the ball and seats, so even at full rated working
pressure, operating torque stays low. (Figure 3)
Body Vent and Drain
The body cavity may be vented in both open and closed state. (Figure 4)

35. Double block and bleed
The seats are of both-side-sealing type, which means that they seal both on
the upstream or downstream side of the ball
valve and inside the valve. Whether in the open or closed position, pressure
on each side of the ball is blocked from the body cavity by the seat rings
engineered to self relieve. No pressure build up can occur in to body cavity.
The body cavity can then be vented to the atmosphere or drained through the
body port. (Figure 5)
Sealant Fitting
Sealant lubrication fittings come as a standard with Rappid design. In the
event of seat insert or stem seal damage, external or internal leakage can
occur. Emergency sealant injection can save the integrity of the valve by
incorporating a sealant seal around the stem or between the seat and the ball
until such time the valve may be properly serviced.

Antistatic Device
The springs provided at the stem allow the static charges to be led to the
piping. In this way, an electrostatic charging of the ball is eliminated. (Figure 9)
Stem Seal with blow Out Proof Stem
The stem is independent of the ball and is a blow-out proof design. As an
integral part, a stem has a flange at its lower side. The stem flange prevents
the stem from blowingout. This feature also allows replacement of stem
packing while the valve is under pressure.The torque is transmitted to the ball
by a generously proportioned mating joint, hence the stem is not
affected by the side thrust.
