This game which I am presenting can be
used to work with pupils of all ages, while you
are discussing various topics such as:
-formation of two-digit number, three-digit
number etc.
-comparing numbers
-reading and properties of multi-digit numbers
-divisibility rules for numbers
-learning and practising multiplication table.

      During my lesson, I used the game to
develop children’s division skills and their
understanding of division with remainders.
The teacher prepares a set of digits (the exact
number of them corresponding with the number of pupils)
using self-adhesive paper, which works best in this game.
Each pupil chooses a digit, which he or she likes most
and sticks in a conspicuous place on their clothes.
                                      Students run in
                                      the corridor and
                                      as soon as they
                                      hear the teacher’s
                                      signal, they form
                                      pairs, groups of
                                      three or four
                                      pupils so as to
                                      form multi-digit
                                      numbers.
The teacher asks questions related to the subject of the
                             lesson.
1. Give the remainder of the division of the number you
formed by 7 – the pupils write down the remainder and the
division on dry-erase writing boards.




                                   10 : 7 = 1 r 3

    73 : 7 = 10 r 3
22 : 7 = 3 r 1




12 : 7 = 1 r 5
In case of three-digit
numbers, the pupils
made their task easier
by doing long division.




                          101 : 7 = 14 r 3
322 : 7 = 46 r 0




The pupils analysed the results obtained during the
game and came to a conclusion that the remainder
from the division by 7 can be: 0,1,2,3,4,5 or 6.
2. Stand in pairs so that the remainder of the division by 5
of the number you formed is 1.




                                This was a more difficult
                                task than the previous one
but completed successfully

        51 : 5 = 10 r 1


Finally, the pupils formed the groups of three or four. They
had to decide what the remainder of the division by 10 of
the number they formed would be and what the closest
number divisible by 10 would be.
511 : 10 = 51 r 1

401 : 10 = 40 r 1

The number divisible
by 10 is 400
223 : 10 = 22 r 3

The number divisible by

                                7794 : 10 = 779 r 4

The pupils noticed that the number divisible 10 must end
with „0”.

This game which I am presenting can be used to work with pupils of all ages, while you are discussing various topics such as: -formation of two-digit number, three-digit number etc. -comparing numbers -reading and properties of multi-digit numbers -divisibility rules for numbers -learning and practising multiplication table. During my lesson, I used the game to develop children’s division skills and their understanding of division with remainders.
  • 3. The teacher prepares a set of digits (the exact number of them corresponding with the number of pupils) using self-adhesive paper, which works best in this game. Each pupil chooses a digit, which he or she likes most and sticks in a conspicuous place on their clothes. Students run in the corridor and as soon as they hear the teacher’s signal, they form pairs, groups of three or four pupils so as to form multi-digit numbers.
  • 4. The teacher asks questions related to the subject of the lesson. 1. Give the remainder of the division of the number you formed by 7 – the pupils write down the remainder and the division on dry-erase writing boards. 10 : 7 = 1 r 3 73 : 7 = 10 r 3

  • 6. In case of three-digit numbers, the pupils made their task easier by doing long division. 101 : 7 = 14 r 3
  • 7. 322 : 7 = 46 r 0 The pupils analysed the results obtained during the game and came to a conclusion that the remainder from the division by 7 can be: 0,1,2,3,4,5 or 6.
  • 8. 2. Stand in pairs so that the remainder of the division by 5 of the number you formed is 1. This was a more difficult task than the previous one
