2. The codes and Conventions in terms of Layout and design The website needs to make sure that effective design is usable. So the website needs to be clear, logical and can be easily navigated. A grid system is used to separate sections of a website, this helps to present information in a small and easy to access segments. The way that a website is normally set out is the centre of the website is used to present the main content, there's navigation tools to the left and/or across the top of the page and there is links with more detailed information on the right hand side.
3. The technical codes used There are Certain technical codes which is now in a common place on a website. Now days quite a few websites contain moving images, sound and now audience interaction. This is sometimes related to the content of a film marketing site which often offer downloads such as music and/or images whereas new based websites news-based websites provide areas for the audience to comment on the news stories published.
4. The codes and conventions in terms of content of website Websites with different audiences and different purposes will look different to each other. For example, a website which contains factual information will look different to a website which is created for entertainment purposes. There are distinct conventions in terms of news websites, film promotion websites etc.
5. Genre Codes As well as the content leading layout and design choices, where websites are based on existing genres (e.g. Broadsheets or Tabloid newspapers, Lifestyle magazines, comedy films) the web design uses recognisable codes and conventions from the genres to make sure that audiences can recognise the genre and that they are framed to have certain expectations of the website.
6. The way codes are used to target the audience and attempt to address them appropriately Different audiences might find certain layouts and design choices more appealing. An issue with websites is they attempt to encourage the audience to interact in the website , they do this to attract the audience and try and get them to return to the website or pass on the information from the website.
