2. Film Poster Research
To help me create my film poster I got images of
various other posters. Those posters were from the
action/adventure genre which is the one we are
studying. These action/adventure posters all had
similar elements in theme. They usually had red or
silver font. They all had the main character in the
centre.
3. Creating the Production
Before I made the poster, I had to think about what my
film would be about. The film is set in space so I chose
the title “Dead Star” because it had something to do
with space. I then got a picture of Kelsey and put it on
my poster because that was one of the tasks. I then
added on different elements like a tagline, billing and a
font for the title.
4. My posters and real film posters
I took inspiration from real film posters of the same
genre to make my poster. My main inspiration was the
“Avengers Assemble” poster. It has many of the same
elements as my poster. The poster is similar to my
poster in many ways. There is a ship in the background
of both posters.
5. Target Audience
This film appeals to my target audience because it
mostly stars young actors like Emma Watson. Emma
Watson starred in the “Harry Potter” series which was
also aimed at young adults. It also has a theme of
action and suspense which would also appeal to young
adults.
6. My Finished Film Posters
I feel that my film posters were quite successful. I
made a teaser poster, the main poster and a poster
aimed at a female audience. The teaser posters
strength is that the background is eye-catching. The
weakness is that it is not very detailed. My female
posters strength is that it is very colourful. The
weakness is that I didn’t use the lasso tool very well
and the edges are a bit jagged. The main posters
strength is that there are lots of different elements to it
that work really well together. The weakness is that
there could be more detail on it.
