D
avid Tyler: I should start by
congratulating you on your wins
at the DM Awards - a good way
to end the year?
Giulio Battistini: Obviously we were
delighted to win the SME CMS Product
trophy for the third year in a row with
Scan+ProcessLite; but the fact that the
SmartSearch and YourBPO projects both
won awards is also significant for us as
it shows that we are a partner focused
organisation. To see our partners doing
well with our solutions is exactly what
we want.
Over the last year our BPM platform
has grown into something that enables
organisations to achieve digital business
transformation - and to do it quickly.
Digital transformation is a hot topic for
many organisations right now, so it's
great for us to have partners who can
deliver these solutions on our platform.
DT: Digital transformation has emerged
as a buzzword in the last year or so,
and the timing actually seems very good
for businesses like yours.
GB: A key thing that we can show
organisations is that in order to achieve
digital transformation in their processes,
they don't have to change their core
applications. We help to enable it at the
front-end, with our multi-channel input
for example, to allow their customers to
communicate in a way that suits them
(e.g. mobile).
We are very well positioned to do that:
a project like SmartSearch shows this
very well. Their anti-money laundering
application uses CumulusPro as the
front end to capture information and
validate it against the existing database
inside the application - and this is
happening much faster than it could
ever have been done before, through
our mobile capture platform.
Similarly there are banks using our
services to open a new bank account
100% digitally. Data being captured in
our mobile app is being validated on
our server in the Cloud. A year or two
ago who would have thought that a
bank would accept that as an
approach?
DT: What do you think has prompted
this greater acceptance of Cloud-based
processing?
GB: A lot has changed very rapidly in
the last twelve months - and we were
well positioned for the changes because
we'd built our platform specifically with
this in mind. There has been a dramatic
shift in how businesses are using the
Cloud particularly in the second part of
the year.
And again this has served as a signal
to our partners that they can take
advantage of our platform to exploit
these changes. We can enable business
to move very rapidly towards a 'digital
processes' way of working - without
having to set up large IT projects.
In the past most processes have been
document-centric - there is usually a
physical document involved at the start
of the process - but now we are
developing further the ability to handle
non-document-centric processes. It's
going much further than simply
validating information that we've
extracted from a document. We're
excited about these developments
which will allow all sorts of new
processes to run on our platform.
When we built Straatos the whole idea
was to enable people to rapidly
integrate systems, build processes, and
shorten test and deployment cycles
dramatically - and this strategy
continues to pay off for us. It reflects
what user organisations demand now: if
an implementation will take 3 or 6
months, the business will have already
changed by the time that system is
delivered.
